Lay Thine Eyes on Needlework Monday

A full view of my Bayeux Tapestry project.

I often get requests to create and embroider

pieces of unique Middle Ages inspired pieces

much like this Bayeux Tapestry styled project.

A wall of stone behind the representation of the person who commissioned this piece.

The Bayeux Tapestry is a 224 foot (approximately 70 meters)

embroidered linen art that shows the history of

the Norman conquest of England.

She wanted her two dogs and cat in a series of actions telling a story of their lives.

My recreation of this piece is on linen and the thread is silk.

I still have to add the two dogs on the bottom border

as well as a third sceen with the three pets.

Eventually, I will be adding a sky sceen at the top

complete with Hailey's Comet.

Animals can be difficult to embroider, but with this style of embroidery it looks like a cartoon.

I began working on this project the Fall of 2017

but had to stop working on it the next spring due to

extreme pain just below my thumb.

Thinking it was a bone breaking; the doctors did as well,

but they found it was nothing more than a calcium deposit

that was braking from the bone.

OVER AND OVER AND OVER

Fortunately, I was able to find a surgeon who was able to fix it!

Now I am working on this project as well as seven others.

What could this project be?

Next week I will show you a four part project

I am doing for one of my daughters.

So far I only am working on one of the parts,

but soon I will start on the next.

Very cool and sweet work. Thanks for sharing.

By the way, you should use the tags #build-it and #creativecoin. Your work fits those Tribes perfectly.

Thank you. Both for the compliment and the suggestions! I hadn't thought about either of those.

I love it!

Oh, thank you so much!

Hah that is a wonderful variation on the give no fucks theme :) This is a great project, glad you are not in pain now and are back in embroidering action. Cheers

I was thrilled when she asked for this. Then she asked for a representation of her and her three sweethearts. They just hopped onto the fabric.

What a great piece and it’s so great that you are able to work on it again

Love being able to stitch again. This is a good one to start back on.

This is so cool! Great job on this, and especially on the kitty! 😸

She told me a story about how they chase each other and the cat becomes three times her size. She sent a video and it was adorable.

Thanks for sharing your experience with us!

Hello @rubberduckiemom and welcome to #NeedleWorkMonday! You have certainly used the right tag to share your embroidery work. Every Monday us needlers get together to share our work, ideas, tips and patterns supporting one another as we inspire the Steemit blockchain!

On Monday’s we use the #needleworkmonday tag and on all other days we use the #needlework tag without the word Monday attached. We encourage everyone to show the process of their work along the way because we love seeing works of art come to life :)

Your rendition of the Middle Ages through your needle art is very lovely and on point. That cat really does look like a cartoon. I can see why your work is requested by others. I hope that you will continue to share your works in progress with us!

Thank you so much for your welcome and kind words. @brittandjosie has been trying to get me to join up and show off my work. I look forward to sharing with you all in the future.

Glad your wrist/hand is doing better now :) Kitty dropped this on PYPT and I didn't even know you had your own account :)

I am so relieved as well. I have been stitching so much over the past couple of weeks that I am completing many projects.
