Colorful Corner-to-Corner
Hello fellow steemians and happy @NeedleworkMonday! I submit to you one of the more colorful corner-to-corner afghans I have crocheted. Not quite a scrap-ghan, but the colors were chosen because they were leftovers from other projects.
The corner-to-corner pattern creates a blanket of neat squares.
I am clearly a big fan of symmetry.
The blanket was bordered in a few rows of single crochet, then finished with picot.

I really admire the work you put into this crocheted piece. The colors work so well together and I love the fact that they are random in size.
Did you crochet as the pieces became available or did you collect the pieces and then start the project?
Do you make them for gifts or do you sell them on one of the sites?
Upvoted, Resteemed and tip!
Thanks @dswigle!
Corner-to-corner blankets are done in one piece, rather than stitching multiple pieces together, and they are crocheted on the diagonal. Changing colors is a matter of switching yarn, rather than calculating the size of the next section. In this case, I did wait until I had enough yarn to complete the project before I started it.
I make them for gifts and sell on Etsy.
Thank you so much! Someday, perhaps you can give the link to your Etsy site!
Very beautiful and neatly created!!! I am a big color fan so I love the bright colors you chose!! I absolutely love the edging! Very nice work my friend~ ❤️
Thanks! It was looking a bit circus-y before I added those green stripes in the middle. Apparently it was a bit too bright. :)
You're welcome! The green was a good addition ;)
Corner to corner is next on my list for learning! So pretty💜
It is a great pattern to learn; it is just a combination of chain, slip, and double crochet and even a few simple stripes add pizzazz to it.
SO vibrant!! It's beautiful. I have a c2c that I have started but I got hung up with the symmetry and didn't finish it yet
One of the great things about these types of blankets is that they usually turn out looking "right" even if they are not symmetrical. If you are having issues making it symmetrical, abandon that idea completely and go for random.
I think you are right! You've completely inspired me to finish it. I don't know why I got so hung up on it. Just got into my head I guess. Lol
That's so wonderful!! I wish my stitches looked as good as yours do.do you have a special trick for joining colors? How do you hide your ends?
Practice makes perfect-ish? If I remember correctly, I went overkill with this blanket and used a russian join, which does not create a tail, though you have to get used to calculating exactly where the join will happen on the yarn so that your stitch colors do not bleed together.
Typically, I do a standard type join, making sure to work the ends in as I go. If you work your tails into one or two stitches (rather than weaving them between the stitches, as is normal to do at the end of the project) it almost ties them into place, securing them. I prefer to not have tiny lumpy knots in my blankets, so this seems to be the way to go. This comes back to bite you if you have to frog anything.
If you work the ends into the same color (which might mean carrying the yarn to the next row up, rather than the next stitch), then the ends become invisible.
Wow I still have so much to learn!! I have worked them into my work before but only when my work is all the same color and i just need to add a skein. My multicolored things have those knotties!! I look forward to trying out some new methods then and i'll be keeping close eye on your projects to see what else I can learn from you. Thanks so much!!
