Wedding Ring Afghan
I do not remember a time where I was not dabbling with yarn in some way, but I did not really do much with it until I started crocheting granny squares for a local shelter.
I enjoy creating things with my hands, so pulling, twisting, and tying bits of string together to form a functional piece of art is right up my alley.
This blanket was based off of a traditional wedding ring quilt. There were no fancy crochet stitches, just single, double, triple, and chains. As for the pattern… I made it up as I went along, as I normally do.
The white diamonds (8) in the centers are modified squares with triple crochet at the tips to help elongate them. The rings are whole (2 brown, 6 green), half (6 brown), and quarter (4 brown) rings, which were outlined in white. They were connected under the overlapping bits after they had been woven together and then the white centers were stitched into the holes. The entire blanket was outlined in a few rows of single crochet to finish it off.
Happy crocheting all for #NeedleworkMonday
Very pretty. <3 @dswigle resteem sent me here. I love the pattern.
Can't go wrong with such a traditional pattern. Thanks for the flash mob!
I do what I can for those that create. <3
You do not want to face the wrath of my bunghole!!
What a wonderful afghan you created. I love how the colors blend so well together. You make your own patterns?
Yikes!
That is above my pay grade!!! Upped and Steemed
Hah! I'm more impressed with people that routinely decipher the cryptographs otherwise known as patterns. XD
Thanks!
The pleasure is mine!

Thank you so much!
Beautiful!
Thank you :)
Wow @thuban!!! This is great! You are so creative! What a beautiful blanket you made. My goal is to one day create more of my own work but wow I don't have a lot of time on my hands with little ones. This is very inspiring! Thank you so much for sharing! 😃
One of the great things about a blanket like this is that it does not all need to be done at once. I crocheted these pieces over several months as quick projects and then threw them in a bag until I had the time to stitch them together.
Yes I agree! That is a very good thing about them. I have only crocheted baby blankets and even with those I'm like "finally I'm done" lol. So I can imagine how I would be doing a blanket this size. However I will do one this size eventually for a throw over our couch. Oh and I love the name of your blanket too :)
