Say no to Female Genital Mutilation
A friend of mine called Anna comes from Upper East region in Ghana and she told me about how Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) has negatively affected a friend of hers. She said "Cobby.. do u know that "FGM" still exists? " That very moment i couldn't stop my jaws from hanging because i thought there has been a widespread of information about the negative effects of this act so why is this still going on in this 21st centry. Anna said "my elderly sister who is 27 years old undergone this FGM and unfortunately she never was tge same uptil now.
She nearly died because she bleeded a lot. She said her sister bleeded so so much after that circumcision and day in and day out she saw blood in her underwear even when she's not menstruating. Anna said "cobby" my sister never became the same after this act. She always complained about a sharp pain in her abdomen which when she feels makes her cry so much. Her dad failed to take her to the doctors because he thought hell be arrested since there was a ban on fgm. Now shes derailed and they are even scared she might not want to marry.
I became so much quiet and i couldn't say a word. I remember she took me to her house and when i met her sister who's very elegant but suffering this trauma i couldn't even hold my tears.
