Mardi Base Camp

"You can't take a bad photo here", said a white male resting his eyes on the best scenery from a view point between the low camp and the high camp.

For us, it all started when we thought we should take a break from the tedious and continuous engineering study. So, the five of us sat down around the round table and started a meeting on what should be do exactly. Nahh... I am just kidding you guys. We weren't those type of boys. I had it all sorted out about going on a trek actually, all i had to do was select a route. If the route is to be finalized based on the opinion of all friends, i promise you'll never go on a trek the same year. So the plan was to choose a trekking route and convince those friends to go along. Google had a lot of options for me like Tilicho Base Camp, Annapurna Base Camp, Mustang, Lomanthang, Everest Base Camp and many more. These are basically the most famous route for trekking in Nepal.

The problem was now choosing the best one. The shortest trek with minimum expenses as we were on short of holidays and money to be needed on that trek we're planning. Out of the above mentions trekking route, couple of us had already trek those routes and to be honest the problem with the famous trekking route is, there is everything that you need right from the beginning of the trek to the end and that kills the excitement. what i feel is, it's more exciting to hitch-hike for 2 days than to sit on a plane for 2 hrs, if you are seeking a break from your usual boring life.

So now it was not going to be one of those pre-planned trekking route i was gonna choose and amidst all these i found a newly opened trekking route known to be Mardi Base Camp Trekking Route. I had never heard of that place before and that fact alone was very exciting. There were a lot of travel agencies that had different sorts of packages based on number of days and money but none of us really like travel agencies to be honest. Particularly i think they just make you pay a lot but i didn't had any other way because there was so less information about the route on the internet. And just when i was thinking of calling an agency, i came across a blog in which someone said that he had gone there with three of his friends and it just took them 6 days from Kathmandu, which means it would just take us 4 days from Pokhara and that's when i knew it was the one i was looking for.

When i told my friends about it, some were thrilled, some were afraid. The route wasn't the safest route, not much hotels, not a single health care center and no emergency transportation alternatives. Now i am not trying to scare you but its the truth. what also the truth is, I have been to many places and trek different routes but it's the one that I'll remember for a long time that's for sure.

I could have told you everything about this route but why should i have all the fun?

here are some pictures...

At low camp

You don't wake up to witness a spectacular view every morning unless you sleep every night at High Camp
