A Retro Look at Indiana Jones

in #nerd6 years ago (edited)

Today I'm going to review a fairly new piece in my growing collection that has quickly and easily become one of my absolute favorites. Indiana Jones is a classic film franchise that doesn't see as much attention as its Lucas Art sibling Star Wars. Even though the two are completely different films, Star Wars took the world by swarm and when Indiana Jones hit the scene in 1981, The Empire Strikes Back was still in the lime light. Because of this, not too many props, statues, or art have been developed around the great archeologist. This piece however, made it through those cracks. "They Got Us", by famed modern vintage artist Steve Thomas is a gorgeous portrayal of Indiana and his father Henry escaping the Nazi's through the Bavarian Alps as shown from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Not only do the bright, retro art style and minimalist textures bring out such beauty in this piece, but the work doubles as a form of advertisement to "Escape to the Bavarian Alps" With eye popping colors and the accurate reconstruction of such an iconic scene, Steve Thomas has truly outdone himself with this one.
