Some mind-blowing Netflix documentaries
Today I just want to talk to you about some incredible documentaries that I saw on Netflix. The first time I watch a documentary on Netflix, it was just with no expectations, but I still gave it a try, and now I am quite addicted!
#1 "What the health"
The first documentary I ever see on Netflix was "What the health". In a world where everyone seems to become more and more obsessed with the “secret” behind the biggest industries out there, "What the health" tells the story of a cineaste who decided to make a survey about the corruption playing between the government, the food industry and the pharmaceutical and health lobbies. It shows that money is sometimes a lot more important than the common interest. I just found it a little bit extreme on the vegan side, like at the end you just don't know what you can still eat, but actually, some facts are truly interesting and have the ability to put in question a lot of your customs. If you want to make a change in your lifestyle, this may be the catalyst!
#2 "The True Cost"
This one really changed my consumption mode. It shows the evolution of our consumption customs during the past decades. For example, in the beginning of the 2000's, on a year you just had two collections in function of the seasons. But now when you go shopping it is just new collections everywhere, and it really has an impact on your buying habits. Everyone keep buying more and more, and the prices are becoming lower and lower as a consequence of globalization. But that comes with a really high price, and not especially for us. The wealthy clothing industry takes advantage of people of less favorized regions who just want to make their way out of poverty and who are ready to work for nearly nothing, through for example blackmailing. It is really hard to understand why this highly wealthy industry cannot afford to pay its workers on a fairway, and why a lot of people know about this but never tried to make a change. This documentary shows a lot of awful situations for the workers that are being exploited in Bengladesh, for example. I think that if the entire world sees that documentary, maybe our world could be really different from what is it now. Honestly, I was someone who really liked to buy things, especially clothing. The cheaper the better! But after watching this, I decided to stop buying clothes instantaneously. Maybe that was a little radical, but there are also a few alternatives to buy fair and ethical clothes if just quit it's too hard for you! Just look this mind-blowing documentary to make you an opinion about this!
#3 "Blackfish"
Blackfish is the first thing I write in the Netflix search bar when I had my membership. I have always been interested in all the marine life, and orcas were for me the most impressing thing on the sea, so my disappointment was HUGE when I realized that Blackfish was not diffused on Netflix in my country. Last week I benefit from a trip to England to watch this documentary. Blackfish put a light on the terrible conditions of orcas in captivity, like in the different Sea World parks all over the world. Orcas are the only animals that survive in captivity (great white sharks just die in a few days, and whales... I cannot imagine an aquarium where you can put them in), so they are a safe bet for these parks. Orcas are really intelligent animals but they cannot enjoy it fully when they are in these parks, and even show some behaviors that they do not have when in they are in their natural space.
This documentary reveals some aspects of Sea World. In some parks, trainers are not well trained to be in contact with these animals, so they can easily make some errors. The living conditions for orcas are not great at all and have a lot of consequences on the health condition of the animal, even if Sea World seems to sometimes tell the opposite to the public. There were also a few accidents, that sometimes resulted in trainer's death, but Sea World made its best to keep the real reason for the accident hide from the media. This documentary is really worth watching!

hello @jarendesta! thanks so much for this post!! i've been interested in the topic of consumption and consumerism for quite some time now, so i will definitely use your advice and watch "The True Cost" (i don't owe Netflix though, so i will need to find it elsewhere;)). i guess most of the people who enjoy buying new stuff frequently should think more on how it is even possible that their cloths/electronics are that affordable, and sometimes cheap! keep posting :)

Plant-based is the way to go. Our entire healthcare system relies on people becoming sick and staying sick for life. Whole food plant-based diet threatens the entire healthcare system. That is why they suppress it so much. Whole food plant-based diet threatens meat industry, dairy industry, drug companies/pharmaceuticals, pharmacies, doctors, specialists, hospitals, rehab centers, medical supply companies, medical equipment companies, medical insurance companies, and much more.
Each one of them makes billions in profit every year, so of course they will try to suppress anything that threatens them which is whole food plant-based diet. These massive food industries who are in the sinister business of making us sick, destroying our environment, and enslaving, torturing, exploiting poor animals provide their toxic food that makes us super sick, and the entire healthcare system is relying on us becoming sick, and staying customers for life so that they could maintain our diseases instead of healing them permanently.
People use your common sense. Be smarter than they are.
Just as if u ve said I believe there is an obvious fowl play when it comes to health care system for the developed countries though. Obviously manipulated by those rich and influential folk in the health care system to milk and make more money mainly the politicians and maybe owners of research lab and large pharmaceutical companies but I defo would exclude the caregivers such as doctors, pharmacist, nurses etc who work hard and make sacrifices to ensure the health and safety of their patient. No health care giver wishes his patient returns to the treatment bed just so he could make more money. Might be wrong though but this is what I think
The problem with this assertion is that vegan diets don't pass the "common sense" test you are advising. Humans have been hunter-gatherers for most of history. Only recently did processed grains and refined sugar become part of the typical diet, and that is when heart disease , autoimmune disorders, obesity, and diabetes skyrocketed. The dietary guideline that "canola oil" (chemically extracted from the rapeseed using solvents) is healthier than animal saturated fat (that we have eaten since we appeared on this planet) doesn't even pass the common sense test a little bit.

blackfish es mi documental preferido. Mejor verlo que explicarlo, aqui realmente se muestra la verdad y lo que tienen detras de los muros de los parques acuaticos y lo que se consigue con ello al animal, estres y una vida llena de tristeza. Lógico que un animal estresado actue de manera agresiva. Gracias por compartirlo.

I am a diabetic and Netflix over time has offered an interesting insite into different diets and options to help ,forks over knives was an extremely interesting documentary ,and gave a whole new angle on plant based diets ,healthy for everyone tbh
I watched "What the health" and I'm very glad that this movie appeared. I'm on vegan diet, so most informations I knew before but I hope it will go to more people all around the world! Great documentary!
