The Mysterious bright light over Palm Springs is from SpaceX rocket launch
Its a Plane, its an UFO?? no its SpaceX rocket
An iridescent streak lit up the sky over Southern California on Friday night, stopping traffic and leading some residents to marvel and others to worry about a UFO or even a nuclear bomb attack. In reality, it was a SpaceX rocket lifting off from Vandenberg Air Force Base, north of Santa Barbara, Calif., carrying 10 satellites for the Iridium constellation.
'A RED FOR THE RED PLANET'
Elon Musk shared images on his Instagram account today of the payload being loaded up on the first Falcon Heavy rocket that will ever launch – and it’s a red Tesla Roadster. The SpaceX CEO previously said that he’d be launching exactly that on the spaceship, but then suggested he was joking – before the whole thing was confirmed again by SpaceX, and now made really official via this post.
Following the Tesla Roadster test flight, Musk has said the company plans to use the rocket and its Dragon space capsule to fly two private citizens around the moon by the end of 2018.
