New on Steemit. Any tips for a new user like me?

I was recently introduced to this website by one of my peers. I rushed into this website signing up without much of an understanding . I have a bit of an idea of what this is, but still confused about this. Although i read guides and what not, I don't get how I should be writing and submitting posts, so this is a first for me. But I would like to get used to it, and try to create more interesting content. If anyone would be willing to help out/ give me tips to a new user such as me I would be happy.
