This is the first post for the Steemit Newbie Resteem Initiative, we are an initiative aimed at strengthening the Steemit platform by promoting and supporting new users in their first month on Steemit. Most of us started on Steemit at a ranking of 25 and began our journey on the platform like most do with an introduction post. After that we all labored with sincerity to produce quality content and submitted the posts with fingers crossed. Like most fresh efforts on Steemit these posts rarely take off, but what does happen along the way is you encounter people who are always willing to help by giving advice and guidance on how to proceed forward. Whether it's help on the content you create, help securing your account, or a vote and resteem, chances are that you haven't made it to a ranking of over 40 without assistance from other users. The Steemit Newbie Resteem Initiative would like to pay the help we have all received forward to new users by devoting a collective effort to finding newbies and resteeming them. If you are at a ranking of 40 or over you may be a minnow, but your far from inexperienced on Steemit, that experience can be brought forward to help strengthen the platform by assisting new users and helping them to stick with Steemit in the early days of their experience here.

How we propose to do this is as follows:

1: On a day of your choosing you make an effort to find new users with a ranking of 40 or below who have just joined in the past month and resteem a quality post off of their blog.

2: You find at least 10 new users a week and provide guidance and support in getting them started on Steemit.

3: Create a group of founding members for the project. Basically if you have a ranking of over 40 or higher and have over 500 followers then please feel free to volunteer. Founders will have a few details and duties. I.e helping and guiding a minimal of at least 20 new users every week, resteeming at least 10 new users every week who have only just joined in the past 30 days, and devoting a day of your choosing to helping new users who have only just arrived.

4: Out of our founders group we want to form a voting group where the SBD reward from each of the weekly review posts created for the Steemit Newbie Resteem Initiative go towards picking and promoting a post from two new users every week, and the runners up that are suggested get their post featured in a weekly best of new users post I'll create every week and post under the #newbieresteemday tag. Again, all SBD earned off of these posts go towards promoting the next weeks chosen best posts from new users. Ideally I'd like to have at least 15 founders who are really devoted to promoting Steemit and new users so give me a shout in comments if this is something that you may be interested in.

5: Start a category called #newbieresteemday and weekly create posts centered around a review of how the Steemit Resteem Initiative is progressing. People who want to be a part of our effort can also post under this hash tag as well. Whether it's a new idea in regards to how to help new Steemers, a post on an exceptional new users content that impressed you, or you're new and feel like creating a post about how the Newbie Resteem Initiative helped you out in your early days. The tag is all about providing support for the newbie, and contributing to and strengthening Steemit.

Most of us here on Steemit create posts and hope for votes for the monetary gain and that's part of what makes Steemit amazing. We can gain exposure for our creative content and earn in the process. The Steemit Newbie Resteem Initiative is about contributing to Steemit for the benefit of Steemit. Resteeming one post for every three post created won't clog your blog and is a huge moral boost to any new user. All SBD gained from this post will go towards promoting two new users posts. If you are interested in becoming a founding member of this initiative then please feel free shout me in comments below, as long as you are a hard working Steemer who has a positive presence then I'd love to hear from you. You can also feel free to suggest a post for resteeming from a new user that may have caught your eye as I'm more than happy to help out. You can also ask @davemccoy any questions as he is assisting me in getting this initiative off the ground and is one of the first founders next to myself. His efforts in promoting new users are unparalleled on Steemit and he does it all selflessly so don't be shy about contacting either of us. Thank you so much for reading and I look forward to hearing from you guys. As always Steem on.

I joined Steemit earlier today and thought that I might have a hard time getting started. It seems Steemit is very open to newbies. At least from my initial observation. I would definitely not mind being resteemed, But then I need to write something good first...

welcome to steemit upclass... I know you are new but you are already getting some good things happening. Mainly you are making comments that are genuine, that's how you meet new connections (like me) and earn sometimes too (like Mudcat upvoted your comment because he liked it and it was genuine). You have much fun ahead and I hope you continue to remember the #newbieresteemday tag as it will be a good place to find some amazing people.

I have learned a long time ago that when you try and force something that should be natural you do more harm than good. Making friends, Making business connections, trying to get that girl or guy to like you. I find it best to just be natural. And its also far easier. If you are authentic you have less to remember. Who knows, maybe things go well for me and one day I too will be part of the #newbieresteemday. But all good things takes time. For now I am on this side of the fence...

It's a great place. Looking forward to your first posts and will happily resteem to help you out.

its funny because im brand new but have 36 but no idea why and now cant get any views on my posts lol

You have quite a few posts that you could post under life. It's a tag that sees a great deal of traffic and may help gain you some exposure. Posts like your dune away post for instance would do well there as it falls under that category. Your photos were brilliant as well so it was a great posts. When I started I labored for around two months and only had a couple hundred followers at the end of it. You do produce some pretty good posts so if you keep it up you will eventually take off. I have no doubt in this. You do seem to be doing really well on votes for a newcomer as well which is positive and you're working hard. Keep up the hard work and you will get there. :)

Heading over to your blog now to take a look. :)

As another thought, you seem to be very good at photos and you write well along side that. Have you ever looked at the walkwithme tag? It's basically where you take other steemers on a picture guided tour of where your at and write along side it. It's a great way to share your surroundings and describe where your at from your point of view. A thought?

i havent! ive started to go through some of the tags but yes, its really hard to know which ones are good. poetry doesnt seem to get a lot of traffic;p

thank you SO much - you are lovely for taking the time to respond all of this! <3

Not a problem. Loads of people helped me when I started and it's what made the whole Steemit game really enjoyable. You do have a decent writing ability so list under poetry of course, but add writing, life, and blog into tags as well. All of those are insanely high traffic tags that you'd flourish under. Given some of the great camera shots you did you could also try walk with me as well. If you scout down my blog you'll find a couple walk with me posts to see how they work. Another steemer who's great in that category is @lindsaybowes . She's always throwing up great posts in that category and provides a great example of how to go about it all. If at any point you need any further advice then don't hesitate to give me a shout.

amazing!! thanks so much and will definitely check out the walkwithme posts! this community is amazing when you make real connections with people. im not about the infinite "likes" element of social media and this seems to have the opportunity for transcending that :)

it takes time make lots of connections @itinerantartist. I have lots of followers and still many don't look at my posts. When you get "regulars" that you have engaged and connected with then you will start to see them repeatedly come view your page. Just keep making friends by engaging them and reaching out for new contacts by visiting others and making comments, and you will find it grows and grows as time moves on.

ps... I get a lot of new connections because I try to help the new ones, which I spend a lot of time on the newbies anyway. This initiative will help you do that, so if you decide to do it once a week, you will see you will make some friends (and fans) pretty fast. ;)

Resteemed the dune away post you put up. Hopefully this helps. If you have any questions then feel free to ask.

you are a gem <3 followed and sending hugs from the middle east <3

well I was surprise to get to know I'm not a newby anymore.. bye bye childhood, hello responsibility!)

Lol. Thank you so much for the resteem and stopping by to read.

I am happy to make today my #newbieresteemday . I will make a post letting people know about it and you can mark Jan 14, 2018 as the day that helped make this great initiative fly!!!

Great job @mudcat36. I'm all in!!!

I have been invited to join in with this project by @davemccoy and gladly accepted, count me in, and thank you for the opportunity to help.

Awesome and happy to have you on board. :)

Wow. This is a truly great project. I have a rank 46 but only 180 followers. I just started last december 2017, a month ago. But, I am willing to support by resteeming especially because I am also inviting people, specially my students to join steemit.

Excellent, and any support you can offer would be appreciated. When your students join we will be more than happy to throw all the support we can behind them. Thank you so much for stopping by and offering your help with our humble project.

The pleasure is mine. I will also make a post about this. Steemit has given me almost half of what I receive as a teacher. So, in return, id like to help others, too.

Hey guys as part of the minnow class, can you check my sample post. I hope you could help me, I will help as well .
https://steemit.com/photography/@roldamn/the-honey-bee-and-the-flower. Thanks!

This is interesting. I’m a newbie here in steemit. This would be a big help. :)

Hello @mudcat36, I left a comment on one of dave's post about this. Now to the basics.

  1. I will try to find one newbie to promote a week.
  2. being honest, I do not think I can find 10 newbies a week and provide them support. There is a lot of other things I like to do on steemit, but I will provide aid and support of newbies when I can and have the time.
  3. See number 2 above, I would like to but in all honesty, I do not have the time.
  4. See numbers 3 and 2 above. Also, I do not want to give my vote over to anyone for any reason. I view my vote as being mine.
  5. I will use the newbieresteemday tag on my newbie hunt day.

Now I need to go and find a pretty Betta Fish image for my "newbieresteemday " blog.

Thanks Bash. I figured I'd ask, and I know it was a big ask so I understand completely. When I started the initiative as an idea you and @doctorcrypto came to mind as I k ow you guys are pretty helpful with quite a few folks here on Steemit. Any involvement from you is a plus so I'm greatful for that, but fully understand if you don't have time for more. Thanks for popping by and checking it all out though.

Hello @mudcat I like the idea. I will try to join. I started resteeming newbies few days back
To help them a bit. But I can only resteem one/day or every other day.

Good job and more power to you guys!!

Will happily take all the help we can get and thank you so much for stopping by. I really appreciate it as the more we get backing the initiative the better. It started as an idea on how to pay forward all the help I have received here on Steemit when I started and kinda evolved from there. Fingers crossed it takes off. :)
