According to BNPB Head of Public Relations, Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, in the eruption sounded rumbling. In addition, hot clouds also burst from the crater of the mountain with a range to the northeast. "As far as 3.5-4.9 km and to the south as far as 4,900 m," continued Sutopo. The high bursts of volcanic ash at this eruption, which is as high as 5 kilometers, is called the most powerful eruption in 2018.

During the eruption, there was also an earthquake. Sutopo explained, since at 06.00 WIB until 12.00 WIB has lasted 1 earthquake eruption with 607 seconds, 1 time hot clouds eruption with 607 seconds duration, and 10 times a cloud of hot fall with a duration of 195-792 seconds. It is said by Sutopo, "then 14 earthquakes, 5 earthquakes, 1 low frequency earthquake, and 5 volcanic earthquakes inside". He also mentioned, in the eruption of Mount Sinabung this time in addition to volcanic ash and earthquake, small rocks also slide from the stomach Sinabung.

"There are no casualties from the eruption of Mount Sinabung, because all the dangerous areas that are the red zones have been empty," said Head of Data Information and Public Relations of Disaster National Agency (BNPB) Sutopo Purwo Nugroho.
