Afghan appointment set to meet Taliban in Doha

KABUL: An Afghan government appointment is going to Doha to make "starting contacts" with the Taliban, a senior authority said Thursday, days before the marking of a notable arrangement in Qatar to pull back US troops.

The understanding would see a large number of US troops pulled back from Afghanistan after over 18 years, as a byproduct of different security responsibilities from the Taliban and a vow to hold chats with the Kabul government. Delegates of the Kabul government will be obviously missing from Saturday's marking service, which upwards of 30 countries are relied upon to join in.

In any case, in the primary indication of a potential opening towards intra-Afghan exchanges, National Security Council representative Javid Faisal said the administration would send a six-man designation to Doha to meet the guerillas following a solicitation from "the Taliban and our universal accomplices". "It's a gathering called (an) underlying contact gathering", he told AFP, including that the appointment was "not an arranging group and won't arrange anything with the Taliban". "This group isn't taking an interest (in) the marking service on Saturday," he included.
