WikiLeaks has released CIA secret documents for missile management
WikiLeaks presented information about the Protego missile management system.
Since March of this year, practically every week, WikiLeaks has published secret CIA materials describing the various surveillance techniques and hacking tools of the Special Services. This time WikiLeaks publishes the technical documentation for a project named Project Protego.
Protego is a rocket management system based on Peripheral Interface Controller (PIC) technology. This system was created by Raytheon, a company specializing in the production of anti-aircraft security systems.
According to these materials, Project Protego is used during the period 2014-2015. The system is installed on Pratt & Whitney airplanes equipped with air-to-ground and air-to-ground missiles. Protego consists of a main processor and starter box as well as several microcontrollers tracking the state of the rocket and its attachment.
The CPU accepts three signals: location of the aircraft in the region, access to the GPS and the time the operation is to be performed. Only when these three signals are received the rocket can be launched.
WikiLeaks has also published 37 documents on Protego - Rocket Handbooks and Specialized Software. The web portal does not understand why Protego's documentation has been caught up with cyberattache documents.
