Chinese President Xi Jinping will be one of the speakers at the virtual RCEP summit on Thursday, November 19, 2020. Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump chose to skip the meeting.

President Trump's absence at the RCEP summit is thought to have followed his defeat in the presidential election on November 3, 2020. Trump still doesn't want to acknowledge the election results, but he has begun to transfer power to President-elect Joe Biden.

The United States has yet to name the delegates who will attend the RCEP Summit. But United States Deputy Secretary of State Stephen Biegun appeared to attend a virtual APEC ministerial meeting on Monday, November 16, 2020.

RCEP or Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) is an economic cooperation. At the end of last week, 15 countries signed the RCEP cooperation and received Chinese support. There are dozens of APEC members who have applied to become RCEP members.
