What is happening in Mexico?

in #news8 years ago

Greetings, Steemians

My name is Esteban and i live in Tijuana, Baja California Mexico. I consider important for the rest of the world to know what is happening in our country i have published before on all of the beautiful things Mexico has to offer. All of its natural resources, beauties and culture that due to the corruption of the government and and our bad leaders are opressed and contradicted by violent and harmful global news coverage.

One of the worst things Mexico has today is its government especially our president. Who's only concern is how much money they can get into their pockets before their term runs out. It's not only a disgrace but public humiliation that they do to every Mexican citizen day after day. The newest gas price increase.

As some of you may know gasoline in Mexico belongs to the Mexican people and it is operated through PEMEX "Petroleo Mexicano" it is suppose to be by the people for the people. We are very rich in petroleum but somehow the government managed to take that away from us and convert it into their own private "money tree" being the number one most sold good in our nation its not a surprise they try to get their money from there. First thing they did was a reform so that they could privatize the Mexican petroleum this means that privately owned gas companies are due to be coming in any second now and start freely operating in our nation. Now i know what most of you are thinking, thats not so bad. Well your right its really not, the problem is that Mexico instead of investing money in refineries to be able to sell Mexican Petrol, they are excavating it and then sending it to the USA to be refined and then buying it back.

The problem is that every time the government steals more and more money from the people through elevating taxes and tariffs, again not that bad if they actually used the money for the people and not their own pockets. they have taken so much money from the people and into their pockets that today they need a way to get back the money and be able to continue day to day public services. So our brilliant president proposed to raise the tax on gas (let me remind you again our "own" gas ) to be able to recover some of those stolen funds.

The gas price is still not bad compared to other countries prices, however a Mexican worker makes on average $10 MXN per hour that is $ 0.50 USD per hour of work. The gas prices are close to 17 MXN/ per liter of gas, that means you have to work more than an hour to get on liter of gasoline. That translates out to 10 days of work to get an average car's tank full of gas. This is abuse from the government to its own citizens, the people that are suppose to be looking out for our well being is in fact "screwing us over" every chance they get.

After this the People in Mexico are tired of being harassed and bullied this way so we decided we would make a stand for ourselves and protest. Invoking our constitutional right to peaceful protest. It honestly brings tears to my eyes just looking at my great nation and seeing how every citizen is joining hands, coming together to make a better Mexico for our kids. This was a way overdue rebellion that needs to have peaceful and promising solution for the citizens. Every state is joining the protest blocking the entrance to the fueling center so that there is no gasoline coming in or out of the central stations. The citizens are taking over toll roads pay booths and letting everyone go by for free. these are al done in a peaceful matter not meant to hurt anyone at all, however the government is counter attacking us in a violent way.

They violate our constitutional right to a peaceful protest, and force the protestors to leave the cites, the police are starting to open fire on the protestors by orders given to them by their superiors. they are also infiltrating their own people to the protestors to convince them to start a violent outbreak, that way they can have a justification for mobilizing the military and end this Nation wide protest using violent force, once again oppressing the opinion of the Mexican people and keep operating this little business called "Mexican politics

It is truly sad to see such a great nation destroyed by the people that are suppose to be protecting it.

This is an important topic and one that needs to be addressed. I've seen for myself the gas lines stretching literally miles down the road.

If I might make a suggestion, you should also post this in Spanish so the Spanish speaking community can see it and understand what is at stake here.
