Firefox responds to Facebook privacy concerns with new plugin.
As if almost everyone has something to say about Facebook and what privacy means, Mozilla, the company behind Firefox has release a new plugin Facebook Container.
What happens outside of Facebook stays outside of Facebook
The implications of collect data are so unfathomable to the average user, it would be like trying to explain quantum physics to a 5 year old. So instead of trying to beat the beast of Facebook in court, Firefox has created a plugin to tackle the issue head on.
Facebook Container works by isolating your Facebook Identity from the rest of your web activity. This plugin doesn't block Facebook ads but it makes it much harder to collect activity off Facebook making your ads less targeted.
This add-on offers some middle ground for users who still find value in Facebook but want to fend off the bad side effects with the usage of Facebook. Although that being said, the kind of incident that happened with Cambridge Analytics would have not been prevented by Facebook Container.
Now lets not beat the shit out of only Facebook here. Many other websites, especially Google, are constantly sharing and collecting your data. This plugin alone will not protect you from data collect. In my next post I will talk about some of the best plugins available to keep private online! So make sure you hit that follow button.
