Six Bangladeshis among seven killed in Saudi Arabia fire
Six Bangladeshis are among at least seven killed in a fire at a residential building occupied by expatriate workers in the Saudi Arabian capital Riyadh.
The Bangladeshi embassy confirmed the casualties of Bangladesh.
Labor councilor Sarwar Alam, started the building on Friday at 7 am in the residential area of Al-Noura University.
Eyewitnesses said the dead were admitted to Saudi Medical College Hospital. Additional Secretary of Embassy Shafiqul Islam said.
The deceased were: 22 from Narsingdi, 28 from Gazipur, 30 from Majid in Narayanganj, 34 from Kishoreganj, 34 from Iqbal, 45 from Zubair in Sylhet, and 'Solaiman' from Dhaka, he said.
But a fellow worker of the injured said, seven dead were burnt to death in the fire.
Md. Alamin said that the gas cylinder exploded in the first floor of the three-storey building and it was set on fire.
