3 Officers Dead, Several Injured in Baton Rouge 'Ambush' Shooting
At least three officers have died and several others wounded in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, the city's mayor confirmed.
The shooting happened early Sunday, less than 1 mile from police headquarters.
In a phone interview with MSNBC, Mayor Kip Holden said officers responded to reports of a shooting at the B Quick store on Airline Highway when they were "ambushed." Officials said several Baton Rouge Police Officers were struck during an exchange of gunfire.
It is unclear how many shooters were involved. Holden tells MSNBC some four to seven officers were shot.
Baton Rouge Police Sgt. Don Coppola said he did not know the extent of the injuries or the precise number of officers injured.
