in #news6 years ago

In this blog I compare India with other country.

among 189 countries in the latest Human Development Index which is released in 14th September by the United Nations development programme within South Asia.Countries like India which have huge population this achievement is a positive sign but still India has to be more Development But if we compare the 1990 India with the 2018 India, we have made massive progress .

What is Human Development Index?

The Human Development Index is a Statistic of life expectancy, education and per capita income indicators which are used to rank countries into four tiers of Human Development.
If a country wants to score higher in Human Development Index the lifespan has to higher, the education level has to higher and the GDP per capita has to higher.

The concept of HDI it’s not that old it started in 1990 the formula is very complex to measure the HDI which is given by two well known economist,Pakistani economist Mahbub Ul Haq and Indian economist Amartya Sen .

There are two things in this index one is ranking and second is score so in 2017 India's HDI score is 0.640, And the rank is 130,Because we are not taking the full data of 2018 that's why it is counted as 2017 index which put the country in the medium Human Development category.
in 2016 India's HDI score is 0.624 and rank is 131 India's HDI value is above the average of 0.638 for the region, with Bangladesh and Pakistan, countries with similar population size, being ranked 136 and 150 respectively.

There are four categories of HDI-

Australia Norway Sweden are comes under very high level of human development and india comes under the medium Human Development category because it’s scores comes between 0.556-0.699 so now India has to try to achieve the high level of human development category.

Toppers in the index-

On the global Front, Norway, Switzerland, Australia, Ireland and Germany led the ranking.

Lowest scores in the index-

Niger, the central African Republic, South Sudan,Chad and Burundi.

Interesting fact-

United States falls in human development ranking now in 13th previously it's in 8th rank.

The Progress By India-

Between 1990 and 2017, India’s HDI value has increased from 0.427 to 0.640, an increase of nearly 50%.

Francine Pickup, Country Director, UNDP India, noted the steady progress made by India in improving its HDI value.

“The success of India’s national development schemes like ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’, ‘Swachh Bharat’, ‘Make in India’, and initiatives aimed at universalising school education and healthcare will be crucial in ensuring that the upward trend on human development accelerates,” Pickup said.
