West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has expressed her support to the Narendra Modi-led Central government in taking action against the recent attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh. Addressing the issue in the Assembly, Banerjee said, "We don't want any religion to be harmed. I have spoken to ISKCON here. Since it is related to another country, the Central government should take appropriate action on it. We are with them on this issue."

Background of the issue
The arrest of Hindu spiritual leader Chinmoy Krishna Das in Bangladesh has escalated tensions between India and Bangladesh. This incident comes after a number of attacks on Hindus and other minorities by extremist elements in Bangladesh."

Opposition reactions
Opposition leaders have criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's diplomatic efforts in the matter. Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi questioned Modi's silence on the issue, saying, "Why is the prime minister silent while Hindus are facing persecution in Bangladesh?" Gogoi also accused the government of failing to protect the rights of Hindus in Bangladesh.

ISKCON statement
ISKCON has urged Bangladesh authorities to promote "peaceful coexistence" for Hindus in the country. In a statement, ISKCON Bangladesh general secretary Charu Chandra Das Brahmachari said, "We express our grave concern and strongly condemn the recent arrest of Chinmoy Krishna Das... We also condemn the violence and attacks against Sanatanis in various areas of Bangladesh."
