Syria Claims Free Deir ez-Zor from ISIS

The Syrian military announces Deir ez-Zor has been entirely controlled by the hands of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

This was revealed by local Syrian television, as reported from Al Jazeera on Friday (3/11/2017).

The announcement came a day after the Syrian military announced it had acquired al-Hamidya, one of the areas in Deir ez-Zor (2/11/2017).

Deir ez-Zor, located about 450 kilometers northeast of Damascus, is claimed to be ISIS's last defense base, and is known to be rich in petroleum.

The ISIS release begins Bashar al-Assad's government since September 2015.

Al Jazeera proclaimed, in an attempt to seize Deir ez-Zor, Syria should not be helped by its close ally, Russia, through air strikes.

There is Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). The group of Arab-Kurdish fighters backed by the United States (US).

"This is a rapid development since the troops began to move north," the Al Jazeera reporter said.

The Institute of Human Rights Observations stated that ISIS now only controls 40 percent of Deir ez-Zor.

The statement was also supported by the chirp of an English professor, Ahmad Al-Issa on Twitter.

"The Syrian forces are getting closer to capturing Bukamal, the last stronghold of ISIS in Deir ez-Zor." chirping Al-Issa.
