Michio Kaku Video: The United States Space Force (or How the United States is THE MOST VULNERABLE NATION during a war in space)
I just viewed a YouTube video by Michio Kaku.
In it, he describes the recent proposal by President Trump and spearheaded by Vice-President Pence for a new branch of the military called the United States Space Force and establishment of a new U.S. Space command.
The proposal calls for it to be functional by 2020.
I learned quite a bit from this video.
Here's a short list of items that I didn't know before:
- The proposal for a United States Space Force and establishment of a new U.S. Space command.
- Kaku's lack of military branch history. He states that the new US. Space Force will be the 6th uniformed service and the last time the U.S. created a new branch of the military was 1947; but in reality there are already 7 services and the latest to be formed was in 1970 (the NOAA) -
The seven uniformed services are, in order of precedence:
United States Army.
United States Marine Corps.
United States Navy.
United States Air Force.
United States Coast Guard.
United States Public Health Service Commissioned Corps.
National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Commissioned Officer Corps.
- The testing of Nuclear Bombs in outer space in the 60's (see: Starfish Prime: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Starfish_Prime)
- The Outer Space Treaty of 1967 (see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Outer_Space_Treaty)
- EMP (Electromagnetic Pulses) from Nuclear Bomb blasts (see "History and Effects of Electromagnetic Weapons Like EMP": http://www.4shtf.com/content/tag/electromagnetic-pulse/)
- U.S. Space War Vulnerabilities (see "Space Warfare: Why The U.S. Is So Vulnerable, Despite SpaceX's Wins": https://www.investors.com/news/war-in-space-why-the-us-has-never-been-more-vulnerable-despite-spacex-wins/)
- The 2013 show of capability by China (They shot down a satellite and littered space with the debris. Below image: Space junk created by a 2007 Chinese anti-satellite test hit a Russian satellite on Jan. 22, 2013. Credit: Courtesy of Analytical Graphics, Inc.).
- Naked, defenseless U.S. satellites and adversarial capabilities (see "China and Russia could cripple the US with a space attack, but the US is pushing back": https://www.businessinsider.com/space-race-anti-satellite-china-russia-war-us-2017-07).

Honestly, I think the United States is weak as country right now, because we have political parties and certain large media groups that worked hard to divide people and pit them against each other and those of "lesser" means as a diversion from the real forces that are leading to flat wages and an increase in jobs that don't pay a living wage. In addition, I have friends and families who don't really have a clue about real issues and spend very little time trying to inform themselves, preferring to be spoon fed whatever echo chamber they are listening to or watching. If we don't actually start defining and agreeing on problems, instead of just name calling, we as a country are sunk. Jobs are only going to get scarcer with automation. Business are getting more and more powerful and controlling, or even supplanting government. A major change is needed and yet both of our major political parties seem content to just move to more opposite extremes. None of this bodes well for the future of the US.

Are we headed towards sci-fi soon? Will starwars become a reality in the future? I just hope they won't be building any deathstar. Anyway in an ideal world things like these should not be a problem, focusing on the benefit of mankind instead. Not focusing on who is superior. Sad to day there is no perfect world and things like these are sometimes needed to protect and defend. I'll check the video. Interesting post.
Thanks for the insightful comment.

Hi buddy
Interesting choice of topic @jaichai
I don't know much about space travel and it was refreshing to read your article.
Cheers, Piotr
Glad to you liked it.
Always a pleasure to see you, my friend.

Although he has a brilliant mind and knows a lot of science - he's not very credible as he withholds a lot of information - thereby being a disservice.
He always has the same talking points. He's fun to listen to - but it get's a bit taxing after a while.
Thanks for visiting and commenting.

It's still so ridiculous to hear him go on about it. Space should be for exploring and enjoying and I wish I could go up there. Or epic spaceship battles :D
I do not think that the United States is weak in space. this is a strong country.
I have seen his video but I did not know that it wasn't accurate.

My deeply considered opinion based on many hours of research is that the US only need to protect New York. All the aliens seem to go there...
