Scientists uncover ancient sea monsters
Scientists at the Smithsonian Institute are expected to reveal the bones of ancient sea monsters on Friday along the coast of West Africa.
Scientists have found giant reptile structures, called mosasurat, on the coast of Angola, which overlooks the Atlantic Ocean, the National Public Radio reported.
"Although Angola is not a country known for its fossils, geologically, it deserves some research," the source was quoted as saying.
The source said that about 135 million years ago, the South Atlantic experienced an oceanic disturbance, which led to huge changes in sea level and temperature, adding that the mosaics found a new home then, and fought a war with other marine creatures to prove their existence.
Mosassories succeeded in the war and have been roaming the Atlantic for more than 30 million years, accompanied by turtles, sharks and other large reptiles.
