Is Steemit The Facebook Killer?

There is a lot of speculation that Steemit will be hob-nobbing with the big boys soon, the likes of Facebook and Twitter. The smart money is on Steemit!

IS STEEMIT THE FACEBOOK KILLER?

I don’t expect this optimistic dynamic to change anytime soon. Those that already feature FB stock in their portfolio should enjoy many years of steady gains. At the same time, Facebook is a technology company too, and this sector is incredibly volatile. Even FB, as great as it is, cannot afford to be complacent.

A major, potential risk to the social media giant’s dominance is an open-source network called Steemit. What makes Steemit distinct from the litany of social media garbage is that it runs on its own blockchain-powered cryptocurrency called steem.

Yahoo Finance‘s Daniel Roberts explains it like this: “Steemit users publish a blog post — it could be any length, any topic at all — and other users can “upvote” it. The twist: Every upvote represents a small amount of steem power. Think of steem power as a representation of influence, because the more you have, the more power your upvote has to move someone else’s post up when you upvote it. Steem power can be converted to steem dollars, which at the moment trade for about $3.25 USD each.” June 14, 2017.

With Steemit, you get paid to do what you normally do on Facebook for free. If the platform did take off, FB stock would genuinely become troubled.

However, Mr. Roberts remains unconvinced. Despite the fact that the writer posted an introductory note on Steemit and made $120 in the steem cryptocurrency, he stated that Steemit becoming a Facebook killer was “a stretch.”

I take a far different approach.

True that, millions of people wasted their time on on FB without any benefit. It's not a dating site or easy way to hit on girls anymore. There is no point on using it. The future is here. It's time for people to adopt SteemIT. Thanks for sharing. Have a nice day!

It's always my true pleasure my friend, Thank you so much for writing.

I'm not sure it can replace FB for all purposes as Steemit lacks the privacy options, but for anyone who wants to have a public feed it's a better option. Musicians and others have to pay to get their posts seen by all their fans there when they could be earning here

Facebook is huge, no doubt about it. They have also had a big head start......

Steemit would obviously seem to be the peoples choice because the majority of people (at least in America) are poor and they need money.
Many won't join Steemit because of the, 'it must be a ponzi' demons.

Several my friends are on facebook everyday, but cant seem to start steeming....strange. Of the 5 that I recruited when I joined, 4 made accounts and only one has posted.

Facebook on the other hand has an advantage that Steemit does not. Unlimited governmental resources. FB will be heavily supported and effectively engineered for continuing mass adoption as long as people give their pictures, names, contacts and emotions freely.

It can be frustrating telling certain people about Steemit. There's the suspicion that it's not real money and can't really be turned into cash.

Facebook doesn't really let you talk freely any more. They block a lot of my political posts. The most I use Facebook for now is to wish my friends happy birthday.

Interesting post, thanks for sharing @michaelstobiersk

I shared the Idea of steemit with some of my Facebook friends , but most of them blaimed me that I try to scam them because it looks to good to be true . I think it does take some time to get mor people from other social media to steemit and not only people who are already useing cryptocurrencys but long term i m sure steemit can get one of the most popular social networks .

I have had the same problem. It's okay though. Word will travel fast. Thete is many new people now, and will continue to grow. Have a great day.

thank you , have a great day too . I hope they remember me when they hear about the success of steemit when it s going to be one of the most important social platforms.

I think Steemit is much more than the the Facebook Killer, I think is an idea that can change the world.
Thanks for sharing @michaeltobiersk!
