Ugandans say #NoToSocialMediaTax because it exploits the women ,youth and poor

UgandaSMtaxbanner-800x400.pngOn july 1 ,2018 the Uganda's government started taxing a fee of 200 ugandans shilling ($ 0.05) the local citizens for using social media.

The fight to resist the social media tax took a legal twist on july 2 ,whne the concerned local citizens raised their voice to resist the th esocial media tax.
They claimed the court that this Tax breaks the ugandas's Constitution.

The tax threatens the fundamental right of speech and right to information which are not only guaranteed by the Ugandans government but also protected by the International Treaties. including Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

The petitioners want the court to issue an order to permanently stopping the government and all their agencies and their official to impose the Social Media Tax.

The Tax widens the internet gap for not only Ugandans youuth and poor , but also for women , furthering the gender digital divide.
