Okay, fine, this use of NFTs is actually pretty heartwarming

Two Coinbase employees have managed to find a heartwarming use for NFTs by incorporating them into their wedding, exchanging the digital tokens as part of the ceremony.

Rebecca Rose and Peter Kacherginsky state that in addition to their conventional Jewish ritual, they gave each other digital tokens as “virtual rings” Rose said in a wedding-related Twitter thread that their virtual rings are now on the blockchain “for all to see as evidence of our loyalty to each other.”

To put it mildly, a wedding photo with the couple at the altar using their phones would be kind of depressing. But the fact that they’re literally exchanging rings, although in an unconventional manner, makes it kind of cute. It also helps that you can see the trade for yourself because it is, of course, on the blockchain.

I know we hate NFTs here at The Brink, but the more I looked into the nerdy specifics of this, the cuter it became. For example, they called the token Tabaat, which is Hebrew for “bell.” When you look up the Tabaat token on Etherscan, you’ll find that only two tokens have been minted, and no more will be made.
What a lovely couple.

There’s also the animation that the couple commissioned to be added to the NFT, which is a fairly good portrayal of marriage in and of itself.

The beauty of this story is not in the scientific specifics — most viewers are unlikely to find the blockchain romantic. It’s when two nerds noticed a nerdy thing they were both excited about and turned it into a crucial point in their friendship. That’s something you can’t help but like.
