I had hoped that they would be all right, where possible. It looks like they were probably asleep when the bulbous below-water bow section of the container ship crashed into the berth (sleeping) area and other sections nearby; the CO's cabin was basically obliterated. After that, with all the water coming in, those that weren't crushed probably didn't last very long; which is a small mercy. The CO and other injured sailors are very lucky to be alive.
