Banda Aceh - BNNP Aceh with BNN Central Team, Aceh Besar Police and Kodim 0101 / BS destroyed a 5 hectare marijuana field in Gampong Piyeung area, Indrapuri sub-district, Aceh Besar, on Tuesday (17/4/2018).

Head of BNNP Aceh Faisal AN said the destruction is an effort to convert marijuana land into alternative plants that are more useful and not against the law.

Efforts to destroy marijuana for alternative crops have been done in 3 districts in Aceh, namely Gayo Lues, Bireuen and Aceh Besar, Faisal AN said.

Faisal said the destruction of cannabis fields in Aceh Besar was the first activity in 2018.

The field itself was found based on the results of an investigation led by the Head of Sub-Division of Natural Narcotics Anggoro Sukartono.

Anggoro Sukartono at the same time also explained the cannabis field with a total area of 5 hectares was first discovered through LAPAN satellite which was then followed up by BNN officers through the process of investigation.

From the results of the team's investigation on the previous few days in Gampong Piyeung, Indrapuri Sub-district, Aceh Besar District, there was a ready-to-harvest marijuana plant about 2.8 meters-3.4 meters high, with a plant density of about 3 cigarettes per square meter and density about 80 to 85 percent of the total field area, Anggoro said.

He said again, the total number of plants ready for harvest is about 200,000 stems. The distance to reach the location of cannabis crop destruction takes about 2 hours from Banda Aceh City.

While Faisal AN invites the entire community, especially Aceh Besar to no longer grow marijuana plants, because marijuana with THC (Tetra Hydro Cannabinol) substance is a prohibited plant, in accordance with Law Number 35 Year 2009 on Narcotics.

For anyone who still planted it will be punished in accordance with applicable law, he said.
