I recorded my first tutorial video exactly 7 days ago and have since then had many requests to produce more films on specific subjects. Particularly on the subject of effective post promotion.

There are many amongst us and even more yet to join us who seek the answers to Steemit related questions and it seems to me that the clearest and simplest way to answer these questions is through the medium of screen capture videos.

Using the existing social media sites

Getting the message out to all the other social media platforms is the key to REALLY kickstarting this Steemit revolution.

It is my intention to help people understand a complicated subject by providing clear, informational & professional videos which are pushed out across all the usual suspects of social media platforms.

I have a substantial following from my old days as a video blogger and social media addict, so it is my intention to reach out to all of them now on the platforms they are familiar with.

As such I have gone all out on this one...

I have created a Facebook account

And of course a Steemit account @steemtutorials

Though I will also be posting all the tutorials one by one through my main account here.

I have made two tutorial films now, the first of which goes into great detail on the basics of Steemit.

This film is a long one but very useful for complete newcomers.

Topics covered:

  • creating a new account

  • getting an account without a phone number (https://anon.steem.network)

  • creating your identity - thumbnail, description, location, website...

  • understanding rep number

  • Steem/Steem Power/Steem Dollars explained

  • how the upvote system works

  • why is it important to upvote the work of others?

  • the advantages of autovoting

  • how to set up your steemvoter (https://steemvoter.com)

  • understanding the bigger picture during the rise in steem value using the Bittrex Marketplace

  • how and why do we resteem posts?

  • how to use twitter/facebook/linkedin to your advantage

  • understanding the importance of comments

  • how to search for certain subjects

  • how to make a post

  • tips on formatting

  • optimising your tagging

  • the effects of the latest hardfork

  • understanding the NSFW filter

  • how to get followers through post promotion

  • finding Steemit help sites

  • when is the best time to place your upvote?

  • understanding the different feeds available on Steemit

  • how to find people to follow

  • how to use multi-language posts to your advantage

  • what is esteem?

My Minnow-friendly Facebook group I refer to in the film can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1281526168558106/

The 2nd Steemit tutorial film I made looks at how to use the speech dictation tool on the mac to speed up your posting process.

I am going to make a great many shorter films (no more than 10mins each) on specific subjects, some of them from the above list because I only touched upon them briefly in my more general introduction film.

One of the few great things about YouTube is the way in which the videos can be presented as playlists or in a grid format, making it much easier to find what you are looking for. Unlike the current format Steemit accounts permit.

I am still waiting for that decentralised equivalent to YouTube, so for now this is my best option for presenting these tutorials in an efficient and professional manner.

Why do I want to help the Minnows so much?

I am dedicating so much time and energy towards this idea for a few reasons:

  • It's just good Karma really isn't it? And it feels great to be helping others to financial freedom!

  • Every day I am being asked the same questions over and over, so referring Minnows to these films will ultimately save me a bunch of time.

  • These same Minnows who watch my films will move quickly up the ranks and it is my hope that they will continue to follow and upvote me even when they are Whales :)

Up next...

There is much confusion over post promotion - how to use steemit.chat and the lesser known Discord, so it is my intention to explain all of this as clearly as I can in my next film, coming soon on all these different social media channels.

Blessings to you all and please resteem/retweet/repost this news to all your old social media platforms.

Wow. This is gonna be such a good resource for us red fish and minnows. Would you consider also recapping your video episodes in text with each post? Because some readers may be in a place where we can't watch videos but can read.

Thanks in advance!!! And thanks for posting content specifically for helping pave the road for us newcomers.

Full Steem Ahead!!!!!

It's a good idea you have here for sure, but it will take some time to achieve for the longer films. Perhaps if the films are divided into smaller specific subjects, an article could be posted with the film to walk through the process.

Or you could use a VPN?

Full Steem Ahead my friend and thanks for the comment :)

you just nailed everything a newbie is supposed to know. You have done such a great job, i just hope every newbie take's time to read your post and visit your blog

Thanks very much for saying so. I also hope the newbies take the time to watch the film...

I'm in china, most of us cannot access to These videos.
Anyway, thank you very much for doing such a great job.

This is a good point. I think the solution will be to produce an article to go with each video.

Or you can use a VPN?

Yeah, but does not word very well sometimes.

Wow you pretty much covered all topics for minnows, going to reestem for my minnow newbie friends who are arriving to steemit :D

Many thanks for the comment. That was certainly my intention. I will also be sending it to al my newbie friends :)

Great idea about the tutorials I think they will help a lot of people.
You do so much good for your fellow Steemians and the whole community, and for this I thank you @samstonehill :)

Thanks very much for the lovely comment. I do what I can to help the community... and hopefully also help the value of steem!

Yeah this will be useful to all minnows. Current the search function for Steemit makes it quite user not so friendly. Thumbs up

Many thanks. I hope it will help lots of people :)

I was in doubt about the resteem process. I hadn't understood what are the advantages for beginners

Thanks for sharing this information :)

I am really pleased you found it helpful. Comments like this will inspire me to make more!

Thanks very much :)

First round done huh? Congratulations. Let me resteem this.

Thanks my friend. Second round coming soon!

You're welcome.

This is great! Thanks you it was all i was looking for gathered in one place!

Fantastic! I'm really pleased it was helpful for you.

Many thanks for the comment :)

These same Minnows who watch my films will move quickly up the ranks and it is my hope that they will continue to follow and upvote me even when they are Whales :)

That's a noble attitude, @samstonehill

Please hyperlink your other social assets, YouTube, Google+ etc so that we can follow them.

I am confused about your reference to US citizens?

The only hyperlink missing is for Google. All the others are there :)

You're right to be confused, @samstonehill. That quote was a fat fingers cut & paste.
My apologies.
I've corrected the original comment.😊
