Amazon is performing very well on the stock market. The share price has already climbed by 35 percent during the course of the year. This has an effect on the ranking of the listed most valuable US companies. Amazon overtook Google's mother Alphabet on Tuesday for the first time and is now on second place. The market capitalization of the company is approximately $768 billion.

Higher valuated by investors is currently only Apple, whose value at the stock market is currently at over $889 billion. Googles shares dropped about 0.4 percent on Tuesday at the Wall Street, hence the market value of the parent company alphabet moved to just under 763 billion US dollars.

Amazon recently pleased investors with promising numbers. The company reported a profit of $ 1.9 billion in the fourth quarter of 2017. Although benefiting from the US tax reform, like many other companies, the surplus is also a result of prospering business. The Turnover increased by 38 percent to $60.5 billion.

The success of Amazon also had an effect on the personal ranking of the owner. Jeff Bezos, Amazon's CEO has replaced Microsoft founder Bill Gates as the richest person in the world. According to the "Forbes" ranking of billionaires from March Bezos' assets nearly doubled in the last year thanks to a huge rise of his shares.

The estimated fortune of the 54-year-old is now at $112 billion. By contrast, Gates' equity dropped by about $ 400 million to just $90 billion.

Okay, I have banned @sarasate.

@sarasate I think its pretty good for crypto if jeff is the richest as iv heard rumours that they may be considering adding crypto to amazon which will be amazing for all of us! Bill Gates on the other hand has done a huge uturn on his stance even recently saying crypto kills people! Looks like old bill might just be getting a few brown envelopes seeing his stock is dramatically collapsing!
Youtube first to go then facebook and good riddance too. Steemit forever!

Amazon is a job-making machine.

For example, it is expanding rapidly in Boston, creating thousands of new high-wage jobs.

That does not even include the second Amazon HQ, which may still be located in Boston.
