🗞 US sanctions against Russia: A gift for Putin
The US government believes that Moscow interfered in the US election campaignnand introduces new sanctions. Probably a very good timing for Putin.
Vladimir Putin laughed when asked about Russian interference in the US presidential election: "How could anyone really believe that Russia influenced the election results thousands of kilometers away?" Is not that ridiculous to you too? " The Russian President once again denied everything.
19 Russians and five organizations in Russia have been imposed with sanctions from the US government "for destabilizing activities" and "malicious Russian cyber activities." US special investigator Robert Mueller has listed that in February, as 13 Russians tried to influence the vote. The focus is on the notorious "troll factory" in St. Petersburg of oligarch Yevgeny Prigoshin, a friend of Putin.
The punitive measures may appear as logical as a consequence of the report. Anyway the timing of their announcement is quit bad as it happened just before the Russian presidential election on Sunday. They US probably should have waited until March 18th? The Kremlin can claim now that Washington has only announced that to harm Putin before the vote.
The Russian leadership can profit from the US announcement. Not only does the British expel Russian diplomats and demand international punitive measures in the case of the poisoned Russian ex-spy Sergei Skripal. Now also the US turn their back on Russia. What more proof is needed that the world has conspired against Russia? On state television one hears these days much of "anti-Russian actions" and "provocations" against Russia.
Election poster claim only one is capable of fighting back: Vladimir Putin, the strong president of a strong Russia. The president who builds new nuclear weapons to protect his country and who demands respect from the world and calls on the nation to gather behind him in these hard times.
The effect of the all the sanctions so far: The Russian State Department has already announced equivalent retaliation against the US. Feels like kindergarten.
