While looking for the character Pikachu of the popular augmented reality game Pokemon Go, a player from Davao City ended up saving the life of a man believed to have suffered heatstroke.
Bon Vallite, 29, said he was playing the game around 2:45 p.m. Saturday outside a hotel compound when he saw a man vomiting blood and appeared to be in weak condition.
“So it turned out, instead of finding my first Pikachu character in Pokemon Go, I find a man looking for help while he was flimsy and later vomited blood,” Vallite said.
Luckily, Vallite, a native of Lebak in Sultan Kudarat province and is now working as a computer consultant in Davao, used to be a health worker.
Vallite then conducted first aide procedures on the man, later identified as Dondie Mark Gadon from Tagum City.
"I gave him water, laid his back to the wall because he is bending downwards to breath comfortable as he keeps on vomiting and since I have bottled water with me, I put some to his face to normalize his pressure", Vallite said.
Vallite sought the help of a security guard nearby in calling emergency number 911. An ambulance came a few minutes after and Gadon was brought to the nearest Metro Davao Medicaland Research Center.
Initial assessment showed Gadon suffered a heatstroke.
Pokemon Go, developed and published by Niantic, Inc., was launched in the Philippines Saturday.
In opening the game, players are cautioned to be aware of their surroundings at all times while using the application."

It's good to see a positive pogo story on the news. All the news here in Australia talks about is how Pokemon go will bring about the apocalypse and kill us all
