This Week in the Sndbox

Welcome to the 53rd State of the Sndbox newsletter!

This past week, we gave you more about the happenings at The Crypto Renaissance Exhibition including our @steempress workshop, open source icons, and Bushwick Daily's full page feature about our ongoing exhibit. We had our 12th State of the Sndbox thumbnail art winners and the latest in NFTY News. We also talked about the issues on why cryptocurrency shouldn't be called a currency in itself, and covered the exciting Axie Beta launch.

The 12th State of the Sndbox Thumbnail Competition Winner

It's that time of the month where we handpick a special artist that captures the @sndbox theme perfectly with a catchy thumbnail. For well deserved creative exposure, this thumbnail will be the centerpiece of our weekly State of the Sndbox post that summarizes what's up and about for Sndbox.

All Steemians were invited to submit a thumbnail / landing image that is exemplary of the State of the Sndbox and will be highlighted each week in August’s State of the Sndbox posts. @gabynnette bags a 100% upvote with a flair of typographic design and a fresh take on the Sndbox palette and energy. @katalinaooma gives us a magazine style entry in second place. We also loved the entries by @dunsky, @ggcarlosr, and @teneresa which are in 3rd to 5th place respectively in this round.

Name-Calling Cryptocurrency

Skepticism about cryptocurrency is pretty much worn out news. Setting aside the fact that its volatility is causing trust issues about its practicality, the main problem we see with cryptocurrency is that it isn't "currency" in the same wayt we see euros, dollars, or yen. Tokens, or digital currencies, capture much more than what value we see in our pockets as cash or fiat currency. They are designed to be much more than a singular monetary amount and instead, represent a "proof of stake" or "proof of work" in a digital currency's correlating applications and communally integrated technologies.

Cryptocurrency is an innovative way for self-investment and in return, one gets rewarded by self-establishment in unique global economies. Read more to know how to treat cryptocurrency as this disruptive new technology that is transforming the world. Visit the article here.

The Crypto Renaissance Exhibition - Steem Publication Workshop

The Crypto Renaissance Exhibition is a free public exhibition at the 1st Floor Gallery of 100 Bogart Street in Brooklyn where New Yorkers and others can learn about the Steem blockchain, the world of crypto, and immediately begin converging their creative work with the Steem ecosystem. The exhibit welcomes visitors from Wednesday - Saturday, 12:00PM - 6:00PM until Aug 15.

This Saturday, August 4, we will hold a talk about Steempress as we showcase our Steem-Powered publication, @creativecrypto. Join us for this workshop to learn how to connect a frontend on WordPress to the Steem blockchain. The workshop will be held at The Crypto Renaissance Exhibition space in Brooklyn, NY, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.

RSVP here to be included in our head count of guests!

Watch out for more events and workshops at 100 Bogart 1st Floor Gallery for the whole run of The Crypto Renaissance Exhibit until August 15. Read more about our upcoming event here.

Open Source Posters and Icons

We released a few more of the graphic design work our team crafted for the ongoing exhibition in Brooklyn. This time, we presented the icons used for the posters in our informative DApp Tower installation. The tower includes posters on Steem applications and the Steem blockchain with introductory graphics and language designed to help newcomers learn more about the blockchain.

Additionally, check out our gallery visitors' selfies at the exhibit hall as they leverage Steepshot and the @exhibition account as an online "guestbook" for you to have a view from their perspective of the event happenings that in return, helps fund the exhibit costs.

The open source icons utilized for the DApp Tower and posters are free for download in this post.

The Crypto Renaissance Exhibition feature on Bushwick Daily

Bushwick, Brooklyn, or more specifically, 100 Bogart is the unofficial "Heart of Cryptolandia" as more blockchain companies converge in this hotspot of decentralization and development in the cryptosphere.

The 100 Bogart team puts a spotlight on the Sndbox incubator in their official blog as one of their enduring members, featuring The Crypto Renaissance exhibit. They share our successful turnout at opening day with hundreds of visitors learning about the Steem blockchain and its applications.

Your contributions to the growth of steem ecosystem is second to none. If steem blockchain should have more of you, steem price would have surpassed $10 by now. RESTEEMED.
