🚩Claim: Red Cross Stole Hurricane Harvey Supplies, Then Sold Them for A Profit 💰steemCreated with Sketch.

in #news7 years ago

Gina Nelms from the Houston area has spoken out about the American Red Cross, taking Hurricane Harvey relief supplies that poured in from all over the country, and even sold some of them like bottles of water for a profit. While other supplies were discarded.

"The Red Cross was physically taking the donations from the doorsteps of these churches and putting them into their trucks. Red Cross came to the church with volunteers and began to steal the donations, from people who literally had nothing."

Would like to remind readers that back in 2015, the Red Cross raised $500 Million for the Haiti aid after a devastating earthquake, but only managed to build 6 homes out of all that money, So where is all the cash going?

So sad to see Charities becoming money making schemes,
they might not be on the TV now the storm has passed but those poor people still need help.

This is something that should be spread far and wide, how many times are we asked to donate to these causes when we're cashing out at a register or on the street to these worthwhile causes, and if you ask who the charity is, the person doesn't know who or how the funds will be dispersed to?
This is part of the problem, we the people are shamed into funding these organizations that are never held accountable. Because regular people aren't psychopaths and truly want to help people in a bad situation, we want to help those in need, people are taken advantage of and our good intentions are turned into money-making schemes for the people at the top of the food chain.
