Yesterday Youtube felt Like DTUBE/STEEMIT for a while with the SUB4SUB

in #news7 years ago (edited)

Today was an interesting day for google/youtube, as they decided to shoot themselves in the foot by "tightening rules for video creators to make money from advertising"

It means that you will need to follow new guidelines to monetize your account, as Susan mentioned in her pretty report:
"we can prevent bad actors from harming the inspiring and original creators around the world who make their living on YouTube"

Last year we had "ElsaGate", unfriendly kid content on Youtube being promoted on the "what to watch" page, and by unfriendly I mean disgusting scatological farce, that was being viewed by millions and still watched daily to that day.
Youtube let the problem happen for few months, and now uses this excuse to un-monetize thousands of accounts that don't respect the "guidelines"( at least 1000 subscribers and 4000 hours of content being watched yearly)
I made my quote of hours this year thanks to this video (totally not advertiser friendly)

And a little bit of sweat:

The funny thing about users, is that you can't expect them not to fight back.
I have been observing the blog creator page for the last 24 hours and it's literally 25 thousands comments of people counter- attacking with #SUB4SUB

Basically small Youtube channels interacting with each others, commenting on each others pages positive feedback, subscribing each other, and having each other's back in an example of solidarity that reminds us all of ...........Steemit

Yes , yesterday Youtube felt Like DTUBE for a while.it's like Steemit was pouring its spirit on these poor souls .

Then the Youtube moderators took over and starting deleting comments, even blocking some channels. But i made my little promo for Dtube in the process and it hasn't been deleted yet.

My point is, expect a lots more people on Steemit this year, and it's good for all of us.

THANK YOU YOUTUBE

Check the 26k chain of people doing the #sub4sub (me included)

All future Dtube users!!!

It interesting to see how some of these social media sites are starting to censor people and materials. People will look for alternatives. My concern is that Steemit will do the same thing...or the community will. Or...the government will try to shut this site down calling it a "ponzy' scheme or a Pyramid scheme.

Yep, you are totally right,
Facebook has seen some backlash with its anti Fake news campaign. And if these 2 platforms keep on bleeding users left and right, they will have to restrict the access to Steemit and other blockchain sites, mentioning piracy on any other excuse(ponzy), and users will have to comply with new community guidelines. The only difference is that I believe we are a little bit more protected on the blockchain and free but maybe I am just deluded :)
