Will Standard & Poor's, Moody's or Fitch cut Australia's AAA credit rating by the end of June 2017?
Australia is one of only 10 countries globally currently holding a AAA credit rating from all three major rating agencies - Standard & Poor's, Moody's and Fitch. Unlike other developed economies, Australia retained its AAA credit rating during the global financial crisis. Concerns remain, however, over the government's revenue levels and the Australian economy's exposure to overseas risk, particularly from China. A sovereign ratings downgrade would increase interest rates on home loans.
