Supreme court decision explained in simple words regarding prime minister of Pakistan Disqualification

in #news7 years ago

According to JIT report submitted to supreme court, Prime Minister served as a chairman of board and withdraw salary of 10,000 Dirham from Dubai based company between august 2006 to April 2014. Almost for a year after resuming office but did not declare this in his nomination papers. The Sharif first denied the claim, however upon Supreme Court questioning, Sharif’s counsel Khawaja haris conceded before the court that Hassan Nawaz, son of Nawaz Sharif was owner of Capital FZE Company and Nawaz Sharif the chairman. However, he insisted that Nawaz did not draw any salary.

The Supreme Court report argued that the salary whether or not received by the PM constituted an asset, as it was PM’s receivable cash. Therefore PM failed to identify all his assets, which proves that he is no more truthful; a requirement according to article 62 of the constitution. Thus he is no more fit to carry on the office of a prime minister and is disqualified herewith.

This technicality proved to be the former prime minister's undoing.
