Windows 10 & Ledger Nano S - TIPP

Hi folks,

I just had to struggle with the Start-Menu appearance for Google Chrome and the Google Apps. I have found a working solution!
This Is what it looks like (with small icons)

For those who don´t know, the Chrome application as well as the Linked Apps (no specific Icon for the different apps) do show just a black background with the Google Chrome icon on top.

I know there is some software out there to change the tiles but I do want to keep my system as clean as possible!

Ok, customizing of the "Big" Google Chrome icon as well as the Icons for their apps is done by Windows with the "VisualElementsManifest.xml" file so I changed the according chrome file to "chrome.VisualElementsManifest1.xml" to be inactive (simply put "1" before the file extension). The file is found here:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application

It is basically done now. Windows now loads the default Link-Icons into the Star-Menu. One just has to update the "lastwritetime" for the links.
To do this enter the Windows PowerShell (use windowssearch) right-click run as Admin and type the following: (make sure you change Tom with your username!)

Just wrote it down again so you can copy and paste (for those of you not familiar with powershell do it once press enter than arrow up so the same command appears and you only change the app-name...):

(ls "C:\Users\ yourownusername \AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Chrome-apps\ theappname .lnk").lastwritetime = get-date

Next step only works if you started Powershell with Admin rights, because you change the Google Chrome link located in the programms folder.

I got my Nano S today and this made me quite angry from the get go ;-). I am used to Firefox so I had to download Chrome just for these wallets. And than I saw the messy icons. Maybe I am just to picky when it comes to my Computers, hahaha.

By the way, why did they make links to Ethereum and Bitcoin but an local app for Ripple. Any suggestions appreciated. Got to play with my new Ledger tomorrow to check everything out...
