THE REALITY OF THE AGE AND TIME WE LIVE IN; Nigeria as a case study. ----- contributed by @catherinedouglas

I have questions, everything is uncertain….

Why do people die?
Why is life cruel?
why so much hate in the world?
Why are some so wealthy and others wretched?
Is it luck or tenacity?
Is the world round?
Is talent all you need?
Is karma really the law of nature?
Or do we in fear bring it upon ourselves?

The weak grows frail
The wealthy get fatter
Their coffers gets deeper
Their influence longer
Their crimes overlooked.

I SEE A LOT OF THIS IN NIGERIA.

How did we end up in times like this? Where charity and service to humanity is done for show, it never ceases to amaze me. Crime is publicly accepted as a norm by which wealth and affluence of the youths are measured, young girls find no virtue in hard work and decency. Values have been eroded from our society.

It’s 03:22am, 12 June 2018. Sleep eludes me, I think my insomnia is back or just maybe I stayed up too late watching GAME OF THRONES, I think that is the most amazing series. An amazing series I must say.

it shows a lot of moral decadence, lust for power, incest, harlotry, war, homosexuality, chaos, black magic, poverty, endurance, pain and a lot of death. Most of the things we are experiencing in the world right now.
As I write, I worry for when morals would once again be of high standards in this age of ours. When we would obey the greatest commandment to love our country men as we love ourselves.

I wonder when the raiding and killings in my mother’s land would come to an end. I wonder how we intend to make our country great again, how we intend to build up our economy, how to redeem our name in the eyes of the world, how to be the giant of Africa once again, how to combat the rate of crime in my beloved Nigeria.

First, Nigeria has to be a PROACTIVE country, not a reactive one.

Provide solutions to our existing problems rather than create more. I will cite an example with the case of drug abuse using CODEINE as a case study. Recently there was a ban placed on the sale and production or importation of codeine, a reactive solution to an existing problem. Nothing was done to combat the problem before the ban was imposed because though the drug is largely abused some persons are prescribed same medication for serious ailments. From my view point, I would say it would have been safer to shrink the market, regulate the sales from hospital and licensed pharmacy but “NO” it was banned, making it more desired, largely sought after, more expensive. In this case a bigger black market has been created and somebody out there is ready to make millions of the deaths of the addicts. The Nigeria we live in where there are cabals for everything, king makers and the likes, corrupt rulers and murderers alike. These ones benefit more than everyone, ripping off the country and lining their coffers.

THIS IS THE REALITY OF THE NIGERIA WE LIVE IN.

My prayer for Nigeria.

Dear father, I thank you for my beloved country. I ask you that you provide us with leaders who would use their wisdom and power for the benefit of the people. Visionary leaders who have the interest of the country in mind and not just the desire to line their pockets and fatten their children. Please come to our aid, enough blood has been spilled. We are already a blessed people, just grant us the knowledge to use our resources for the betterment of our people. AMEN.

i want more than anything to live in a greener Nigeria, i don't want to run to other countries seeking for greener pasture. i want a better Nigeria, it is not a day's job, but let us begin to take the steps in the right direction for better days.

Beautiful write up @stach.pay, it's a pity that our mother land "Nigeria" has turn out this way, but we should also bear in mind that the end is near and the Holy Scripture must be fullfilled.

Thank you and your comment is very true.

You are welcome
