THE WAY OUT FOR NIGERIANS
Before you write this article off as a 'get-rich-quick' post, kindly take 3 minutes of your time to read it, you'd gain one or two thing from it.
I earlier posted an article on this platform, highlighting the importance of earning in dollars instead of naira, especially as the naira faces devaluation risk. Well, if you took no action after reading that article, I hope this propels you to.
Due to economic fallout caused by the Wuhan Virus and the recent oil price war, the rate of crude oil has dropped from $57 to $35 - $30. A whooping $22 difference! You should also note that the demand for Nigeria’s oil is reducing due to market competition. Every country on earth is currently experiencing economic fallout caused by the Wuhan virus. So other exporters of crude oil are dropping their rates to make sales.
This recent development spells doom for Naira, seeing that Nigeria is highly dependent on crude oil to finance her projects.
Earlier this year, when financial experts projected that the Naira faces a 70% chance of devaluation within the year, the Wuhan virus was yet to be. This means that there are other factors which were expected to lead to the devaluation of the currency and these other factors will most likely still contribute to the further devaluation of the naira.
Why am I telling you this?
Because I want you to be like Noah in the bible. Prepared and ready for the storm, and when others are running around looking for shade and mountain tops, you’ll be cruising in your boat above the waters.
Truth is, the naira has not been quite valuable in the international market but knowing that things could get worse for the currency should put you at tension.
But beyond getting tensioned, you should act!
If I were you, I’ll earnestly start seeking ways of earning in dollars instead of naira. And no, you don’t have to be an internet fraudster aka Yahoo boy, to earn in dollars from Nigeria. There are many platforms that help you do that.
A good place to start will be to register your skills/ services on global freelance platforms like Fiverr and Upwork.
I’m not an Upwork ambassador, but I usually recommend the platform because it has helped me earn in dollars even though I’m in Lagos and not Dallas.
For those of us who do not know what Upwork is- Upwork is a global freelance platform that connects freelancers with clients. As a freelancer signing up on the platform, you register whatever skill or service you’ll like to render on the platform and earn in dollars.
There are different skills/ services you can register under Upwork.
Choose the one you know you can deliver best and deliver your best when you get contracts.
If you feel you don’t have any skill to sell, you can learn one. Not just kind of skill, learn a high-income skill.
A high-income skill is one which solves a high-value problem and as a result, people are willing to pay highly for it. One high-income skill that’s easy to learn is copywriting. Copywriting is the art and science of using words to get people to beg you to collect their money in exchange for whatever it is you’re offering. A copywriter is a salesman in print.
Apart from copywriting being considerably easier to learn, compared to other high-income skills, it’s also economical to practise. You don’t need a laptop or an office to practise as a copywriter, especially as a beginner.
If you don’t have a laptop and you have decided to learn and practise copywriting, all you’ll need do is download the WPS app on your phone (this is equivalent to the MS Word application on your computer), register on Upwork, apply for jobs and use your phone to research and type.
If there are other avenues you know you can legitimately make dollars via, do well to invest in them. You can also share them with us in the comment section.
