US congressmen join forces to stop Trump lifting Russia's sanctions

US lawmakers proposed a bill that would prevent Trump from abolishing sanctions imposed on Russia
Republicans and Democrats have agreed on a proposal that would allow new sanctions on Russia, Iran and North Korea, and stop the efforts of US President Donald Trump, To lift sanctions imposed against Moscow, Reuters reported today.

The House of Representatives is expected to vote on a package of sanctions against Russia, Iran and North Korea on July 25, according to the US House of Representatives Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy. Mr McCarthy said the measures taken would "make them accountable for dangerous actions".

According to the bill, President Trump must submit a report to Congress on proposed actions that could "significantly change" US foreign policy toward Russia, including loosening of Punishment or the return of two Russian diplomatic missions in Maryland and New York blocked by Washington last year.

Congress has at least 30 days to hear the hearing, then it will vote to approve or abolish the proposed change from President Trump.

The United States imposes sanctions against Russia in opposition to Russia's merger of Crimea from Ukraine in 2014. Moscow is also accused of colluding with Trump's campaign to intervene in the 2016 US presidential election. However, Moscow denies.
