Peep peep - Means the light has turned red. Stop you idiot!
I have never seen anyone stopped by a cop.
Here DTube shows people blowing a red light until a paid whistle blower tells them to stop.
Since moving to Argentina, I have seen many people who stop at red lights and keep the speed limits but only because they want to.
They don't want to wreck the car they just bought and waited two months for (even though it was in stock and they paid cash for it). That's the way it works no matter what kind you buy.
Imports are worse. A new Camaro will cost you a cool $2.4 million pesos here after 60% import tax and 21% IVA. Drive that here! I dare you. Look how they drive.
In the last year, I started to see these people dressed in light blue and yellow shirts, armed with a deadly whistle. They gather at corners all over the city from 3:30 till about 8:00 p.m. to tell people what color the light is. Without them, cars and buses will go through the red light and line up in the middle of the intersection. Cross traffic does the same thing and the city experiences what is called grid-lock.
My thoughts. They could actually stop people for running red lights (or yellow ones like in the USSA) and collect fines from them. Then use those fines to pay for city improvements instead of printing the currency into oblivion. That leads me to my next topic, inflation. But first, the video.

Toward the end of the video, a quick "toot too" signals the other girl that the light has turned yellow. Time to walk out in front of moving traffic that doesn't concern itself with red or green lights. Risky job.
Inflation
Here's what $350 dollars looks like.
The 200, 500 and 1000 bills all came out in 2017. They are new! People here ask me bitcoin will go up. I tell them, "You could look at it that way, but I would rather tell you that you will be a millionaire next year." They will actually have a million of those paper things and even higher denominations. But surely a million. Mark my words.
So. Yes
Bitcoin will be worth at least a million pesos next year. And donuts, coffee, and a taxi ride downtown will each cost thousands.
We are about one year behind Venezuela. The bills are worth less and less each day, and it will go that far. It always does. It will all stop when they are worthless must like paper is in Venezuela.
Another thing those fines for running red lights could do. Teach people not to run red lights - think of all the wages (lives, cars, kids,) that would be saved. I watch all this and think of the probabilities. I'ts much bigger than just red lights.
Good new is if you have crypto the value of paper doesn't matter.
Only the weight of it when you need to carry it to pay rent.
That is not a very safe corner.
They are all not safe! Sad but true.
