noor maroc

Noor I is considered the first site of a titanic solar complex at the gateway to the desert. Operational for more than a year, the facility includes more than 500,000 mirrors, aligned on 460 hectares, the equivalent of 600 football fields. Today, the plant connects to the power grid not less than 600,000 inhabitants, and even stores energy. Clean energy almost inexhaustible.
To do this, the principle is simple: mirrors capture solar radiation throughout the day to generate high temperatures brought to 400 ° C. The resulting heat turns water into steam, which drives a turbine delivering electricity to the national grid.

NOOR I contributes to electricity consumption needs, even beyond sunset.
The Noor I project, led by the Moroccan solar agency (Masen) and led by the Saudi promoter and operator Acwa Power, required an investment of more than 700 million euros. Inaugurated in February 2016 by HM King Mohammed VI, Noor I represents the first phase of the large park of Ouarzazate. In 2018, three more units of the solar complex (Noor I, II, III and IV) will be commissioned.
Ultimately these will provide the equivalent of the consumption of two million inhabitants. The mirrors will extend over a total area of over 3,065 hectares, the equivalent of a large city like Rabat. The Ouarzazate solar power plant should become the largest in the world.dims.jpg
