Treasure-hunting in Norway (3): BLÜCHER
On the 9th of April 1940 the battleship BLÜCHER, a German heavy cruiser, was sunk by Norwegian coastal defense batteries in the Battle of Drøbak Sound. Its length was 202 meter, beam 22 meter, with a 3 × Blohm & Voss steam turbines 3 × three-blade propellers Speed: 59 km/h. The wreck lies at the bottom of Oslofjord, and in 2016 was designated as a war memorial to protect it from looters. Several artifacts have been raised from the wreck, including one of her Arado 196 floatplanes, which was recovered during an operation to pump out leaking fuel oil from the ship in 1994. Diving on Blücher is extremely risky, but deep inside the ship in a locked and water-proof safe, there is classified information on Norwegian collaborators, which the present Norwegian government does not want to be public info, since such names on collaborators are linked to the top left side in Norwegian politics,in addition to elements in the royal house. The picture shows BLÛCHER sinking.
