Easter Holiday At Crypto Retreat In Norway

in #norway7 years ago (edited)

Look at this..amazing conditions. Today we ate stew and toddy in a lavvo (permanent tent) and back at the hotel chilling with a beer waiting for dinner. And when we get home, there is spring time in the southern parts where we live.

Remember to enjoy life guys. Don't stare into the screen every day and night. Peace out.

Yeah. My mobile internet quota for the month is used up, and I'm shocked to learn that the provider just cuts access to Internet instantly when the quota is used up, and that there is no way to increase the limit unless one has the payment solution Vipps® installed on the phone and registered on the same telephone number - which, for different reasons, is impossible to achieve for me. And tomorrow morning we'll go skiing for several days. Perhaps I should just accept the fate that I will be offline, unable to do any crypto trading on the go.

Or perhaps this is a sign to look for another provider. It was the case with me.

If it was possible to change the provider (while still keeping the same number) the same day, I would have done that. I probably should have spent some time investigating if it was possible to buy a new sim card.

My employer pays the bill and they have chosen this provider. If I choose another provider, it will cause more paperwork to get the bills refunded, and I absolutely hate such paperwork, so I will rather ask my employer to raise the quota and be more observant on the "consumption" and threshold warnings in the future. I could probably have gotten the quota instantly increased if Wednesday had been a completely ordinary working day and I'd been in the office.

Yeah..I've decided to hodl no matter what. I own some of the best cryptos there is..so I just ask myself; Do I beleive in the future of cryptos? Yes. So what can I do right now? Just close my eyes and wait.

It's a bit different with me though, when I'm lucky and the traffic is good I can flip coins over with a reasonable commission, meaning I can earn money simply by being online and handle requests.

How does that work? :)

I'm a market maker for local cash- and bank transfers, most of the traffic comes from Localbitcoins. People are willing to pay some percent premium for being able to convert quickly from fiat to crypto and vice versa.

On bad days everyone is buying, and the coin value increases much faster than my commission before I'm able to restock my crypto holdings - or worse, everyone is selling, and the coin value drops much faster than my commissions. Sometimes the opposite happens, good for me, bad for my customers. On good days the price is stable and there are customers both buying and selling.

If it is you business then you should have a backup plan and two providers.

I do have a day-job, this is "just" a hobby, even though it probably earns me more than my regular salary.

If it was my business, I'd automate things a lot more, there is just no justification for doing manual work when it comes to the most ordinary banking bitcoin trades. One of the problems is that it's very hard to get a business banking account for such a purpose. I'm a bit involved in a startup trying to put up a domestic trading platform, but they still haven't managed to get any banking account for this purpose. Ordinary private citizens have a bit more rights, but it's a fine line, some of the banks are now throwing out customers doing crypto trading on a regular basis.

That said, my intention is to always have a working backup telephone, so I can quickly resume using the same mobile wallets, google auth, etc.

O man, I do envy you at this moment. Looks great and peaceful.

Thanks man. Really is. Nice calm place. Perfect crypto retreat :)

It probably would be if there was no WIFI or any internet connection :)
Tell me honest, did you take a look at your portfolio. The first sentence of your post gives me the indication that you did :)

Haha. Of course. About every three hours :) But I drink beer and the kinds run around and I don't check it on the ski trips..But sure. I check it a little bit. Even had to make a steemit post. Hehe. But 70% less than normal!

steem seems to have done it reasonably well over the last 24 hours, compared to many other cryptos.

I often go without rods when skiing, making it easy to help the kids but also to take up the telephone from the pocket and get online :-)

Oh man! you still enjoying winter! Such a nice view

Yeah. This is central mountain-norway though. But it has been a very wintery winter..usually spring time by now, but it's still winter in the mountains. Actually quite wintery in the southern parts as well. It's been the best winter in my 36 years..and that is objectively speaking. Record amounts of snow. So much for ...local warming at least :)

Giving Zero Fucks About Cryptos
After all, it's just money you can afford to lose, right? :)

Oh, does this mean that you no longer believe in cryptos?))

Hahaha. Absolutely not. I am still 99% sure (seriously 99% sure) that it will be a huge market (in the trillions) within a few years.

But I don't give a fuck about how the markets react right now. It's boring. And I don't care if it stays bearish for months. I'm very very sure it will go up. But ultimately it's money I can afford to lose. So I'm betting on cryptos, but if it fails (which is very unlikely) I'm all good.

Btw, cryptos are not going to fail. :)

Understand you.

But ultimately it's money I can afford to lose.

I did not put anything into the cryptos (except for $ 120 at Golos ICO), and brought out to fiat tens of thousands $$, but I'm not trained to lose profits and are now very unhappy with myself (( In many respects this is certainly due to the 13-week withdrawal to Golos / Steem, it was difficult to react on time, I'm afraid many of the altcoins (not Steem) will never rise to their ATH.

Hvor er det? Veldig fint plass

Thanks. Central Norway :)

Trøndelag or Trondheim? I live in Stavanger, Rogaland

Ah..More like Hemsedal area :)

Cool snow... here it melts fast :))

I like that country. Only thing I don't like is the way they treat the children.
It is one crazy social experiment showing immaturity of the Norwegian society

Yup. Norway is a lot more socialist than people here believe. We have some freedoms, and we are quite rich. But things like the children services are insane here. Some claim that as much as 90% of the children taken away from their parents shouldnt have been. But it's a very effective way to make people shut up. Just small things that is "weird" like co-sleeping with your children, non-agression principles, being a libertarian, alt right..and many other things ..even not having a regular 9-5 job could be something that the child services could pick up on. A lot of people even use political disagrement to inform against others. So let's say you're against immigration, and someone who works in the kindergarden see that you write something negative about that on Facebook - and they are very pro immigration, they could inform you to the child services. A neighbour who hates you could make an anonymous call. And once the child services are involved you are in a world of shit. Even if you are innocent and walks free. They have unlimited power. They can show up any time and take your kid. And you could be fighting the court system for months or years before you get your child back.

IMAGINE the trauma..It's unimaginable. It is a nightmare I cannot comprehend. So you can imagine we are very careful. And anonymity is very important.

The sickest thing is that people like myself, who dosnt have anything to fear - feel fear. And that is the whole point I think. Make normal people so afraid of losing their child that they will shut up and dont express any political opinions. Very clever right? :)

Wow! Seriously?! Wow again. I can't write anything meaningful after this

Well, you know...you'll probably be OK..especially if you have resources, money, family..They do actually predate on low income families, single moms etc. Sure, it's in those families there are most problems - so it makes sense to a degree. But I think it is being used politically. The horror stories are so scary that you DO actually feel like there is not worth the risk of being for instance politically involved in anything else but mainstream politics. Or you cant discuss certain topics publicly. I would guess topics like immigration, vaccination, un-schooling, ethnonationalism, being critical towards PC narrative in general..would be topics that could trigger an investigation from the child services.

And even though the odds probably are relatively small, over 5,5% of ALL children between 0-18 are under the custody of the child services..that is a staggering number. 56,000 children out of 1 million. And if 90% of those are based on political/ideological stuff and not abuse..well..there is a 5% chance that your child will be taken from you. So you better shut the hell up and play along.

After spending several years in the West I'm becoming homesick for my previous chaotic country.
I never believed that I will state something unreasonable like this but once you earn some money (any money), you start realizing that you lost a huge amount of freedom.
I'm seriously considering moving to Czech Republic, Slovenia or similar.

You should. If cryptos go to where i think they will, we could possibly move to czech, poland or estland. At least buy property there.

At least you can swear as much as you want whoever you want.
You can be politically un-correct all your life.
And you will have some degree of freedom to do stupid/ borderline illegal things that make you happy (like installing illegal software, fixing the car in some unauthorized garage).

After 3 years, my overall level of happiness is down as BTC.

I read something about the subject maybe 4,5 years ago from some blog written by the Russian mother from whom 3 children were taken away on false accusations. She managed to escape with 2 over the border illegally somehow while the oldest one she didn't see for more than 5 or 6 years.
Everything started after the kid stated in the school that mother slapped him once.
After that I was just investigating and I found a lot of stories on the similar subject.
Also I read some different opinions about the child services organization running in Norway. Some Lawyer are actually thinking that they are operating like some mafia organization.

I think that Norway is the example for the rest of the world and Europe mostly. Laws are going to be copied to the other European countries it is just a matter of time.
My thoughts about the conversation above is that you can run but you can't hide forever.
People must be involved in the political matters of their countries. If they don't they are going to loose all their liberty and freedom.
Greed and blasphemy growing in the ones susceptible will darken the human society.

Those pictures are beautiful bro!

Enjoy your vacations with your family :D

Nice words and beautiful photos from a truly wonderful place. Thanks for sharing and lets enjoy nature!

Thanks man :) Thanks for commenting

I am a Brazilian. I love snow pictures, but I hate snow. I am not used to it...

Hehe. I can imagine. We're so used to snow...:)
