I'm starting work on my first creative writing piece

I'm going to start my first novel by putting together various pastiches of text, character notes etc. I wanted some insights from you - feedback etc on my approach. Please feel free to comment as you see fit.

Also are there any people who have successfully published here? what's your story?

This is a character summary of Nazia.

"Nazia is statuesque, tall with sharp features, and a moon-like face. Her aquiline nose juxtaposed against a strong jawline gave her a slightly androgynous look about her. Distinctly attractive, yet tempered with a strong air of masculinity and power that resonated in her crinkled turquoise shalwar kameez, embroidered with saffron buttons and ruby-red lining. As she leans on the coarse blackened sandstone turret of the ramkot fortress, she stands with her feet facing inwards, as if to protect herself against the sheer vertical drop at the top of the fortress. She gazes out over the Mangla dam, wistfully searching for the perfect vista. "

I'd also be interested in seeing if you have any plot ideas. What could she have been doing?
