Freedom

Continuing with presenting works in square format.
I wasn't aware how many of them I made in this shape until I started thinking and going over folders to see what to post here on NTopaz.
This one is not so large, it's 30x30 cm, made on heavy 640gr paper.

It's story about freedom.
Are we really free in this world that we think is giving us so much to choose? Or we are just gently chanalized into some stream that some ''upper'' mind want's us to go?
Are we just thinking we are free, and instead we are slaves to so many things we aren't able to see?
Ropes are not tight , but still they exist.

A manifold portrait of a lady, I like the result you see that they are watercolors, but it has a lot of definition in its contours as if it were a mixture with colored pencils, but if it is only watercolor, wow you dominate the technique very well, and the message that presents this image is very good about how to appreciate freedom and how we lock ourselves in depriving ourselves of it.
you are a great artist and I hope to see more of your work :-)

It's only watercolor, no pencils :) Just thin brush and playing with dark tones, using them properly for making illusion of lines. Thank you so much, glad you like it :)

That's a wonderful work with a story as well a great display of skill. My compliments! Keep sharing your work with us here.

Beautiful painting @jungwatercolor, the concept of your composition is incredible and leaves us with the question of whether we are really free... Or is it just what they let us believe?

We have same thoughts about so called freedom. How it's tricky now days, we think, they let us believe but if we stop and think for a second, we see how fake that freedom is..

Your words are exact and as I usually say, without us noticing... we are slaves but with freedom of thoughts because one thing is to imagine, think and even decide and another thing is that we can really do what we want, by belonging to a society we must walk to the rhythm of it and we can not act as we want.

It's a complicated but very interesting subject to discuss, dear @jungwatercolor. ;)

Love it. She makes me think of a New England Puritan woman straight out of Nathaniel Hawthorne.

Yes, puritan woman or maybe woman I see around, neat housewife that gave herself ropes ..and inside is different world..

Beautiful interpretation of freedom, you are right it does not necessarily to be robes, if our sole is not free then the whole person is trapped. Like the colors and how you made the hands, beautiful anatomy and color choice make them so gentle and transparent :)

Thank you. I agree totally, freedom is mostly state of mind..and I think in a world we live, there is lack of it..

I keep writing songs and songs about freedom, and invisible ropes

been suspended by these fraying bonds
but now I'll untie them all

your portrait reminded me to Jane Eyre, dunno why, not only the hairdo, the fact she seems a woman with a vivid world inside.

Yes, looks like many have same association with this one. Maybe my subconscious would have something to say :)
Thank you!
