ON THE RAZOR’S EDGE-SUL FILO DEL RASOIO [ENG/ITA]

Hello everyone my dear friends!!!
Today is the twenty-seven of January and like evry year is the Day of Memory. On thi day the victims of the Olocaust are remembered, the genocide of the Jewish people, the Shoah.
As we know, in that period millions of innocent people were killed just because they were Jewish, Gypsy, homosexual or for different politician ideas. In this photo we see the lower part of work that develops on the ground with broken glasses and color red drips that make as think of the atrocity of the war.

Oggi è il 27 gennaio e come ogni anno è il Giorno della Memoria. In questo giorno vengono ricordate le vittime dell’Olocausto, il genocidio del popolo ebraico, la Shoah.
Come sappiamo, in quel periodo furono uccise milioni di persone innocenti solo perché ebreo, zingaro, omosessuale o per idee politiche diverse. In questa foto vediamo la parte bassa del lavoro che si sviluppa a terra con vetri rotti e scolature di colore rosso che ci fanno pensare alle atrocità della guerra.

This work seems appropriate to me for the occasion. It is a textile, in this photo we can to see a detail, the surface of wite fabric with black leather cut into rectangles.
On all the work I also drew some lines with black acrylic that intersect with the skin, forming games of squares, like a cage. Inside the rectangles there are seams made with black thread and sewn broken glasses.

Questo lavoro mi sembra appropriato per l’occasione, è un tessile. In questa foto possiamo vedere un particolare, una superficie di stoffa bianca con sopra pelle nera che forma dei riquadri.
Su tutto il lavoro sono intervenuta anche con il nero acrilico tracciando delle linee nere che incrociandosi con la pelle, formano un gioco di riquadri, come una gabbia. Al loro interno ci sono cuciture fatte con filo nero e vetri rotti cuciti.

Here we see the whole work. Its top has a dense texture, formed by fabrics, plastic, alluminum, skin, black tulle etc. then the texture widens with larger pieces of cloth that are intertwined with each other with pieces of red and black skin, cut into rectangles. The pieces of leather intertwining with the fabric form holes, cracks, where the sight can go across the surface of work,until to infinity.
In the ground there are broken glass with color red drips. This day must be remembered because discrimination still exist, in the all world towards those who seem different from us. And often for convenience and opportunism we take refuge in the wite and black area of our brain, that scholars call gray area, where INDIFFERENCE reigns.
To prevent them from happening again this terrible tragedies, is important remenber, hunderstant and spread the testimonies of the survivos to all generations.

Qui vediamo il lavoro intero. Nella parte superiore presenta una tessitura più fitta, formata da stoffe, plastica, alluminio, pelle, tulle nero ecc. poi la trama si allarga con lembi di stoffa più grandi che si intrecciano fra loro e con pezzi di pelle rossa e nera, tagliati a riquadri. I pezzi di pelle intrecciandosi con la stoffa formano buchi, fenditure, dove lo sguardo può andare oltre la superficie del lavoro, fino all’infinito.
A terra ci sono vetri rotti con scolature di colore rosso. Questa giornata va ricordata perché le discriminazioni esistono ancora, in tutto il mondo verso chi ci sembra diverso da noi. E spesso per comodità e opportunismo ci rifugiamo nella zona bianca e nera del nostro cervello, chiamata zona grigia, dove regna l’INDIFFERENZA.
Per evitare che non si ripetano queste terribili tragedie è importante ricordare, capire e diffondere a tutte le generazioni, le testimonianze dei sopravvissuti.
