@FlowerTower Latino is used as a general term. A group of people, regardless of gender, are referred to as Latinos. That’s how spanish works.

@Tahtahme's Diary they are saying that tho, they are saying it is insensitive and sexist so while they are not directly saying other countries have to do it, they are indirectly saying it

@DodgerRiley Latino is used in a masculine sense in the language, but it is also used as an umbrella term for people or a group of people regardless of gender. It’s the same for niño and Niña. That’s just how the language works

@gallis vibe I truly don't have the effort to explain but in short, the "-ino" or "ina" that comes at the end of "latino" is basically identifying the gender of the person who's latin. There's really no word that's too long to abbreviate trans ppl so they put an "x" at the end to include them in the general pop of latin people. There's a lot to say about this but it's interesting that people find it very offensive when my own latin family doesn't really care.

@Dravin McRae it’s actually used as a gender neutral term in the language. And group of boys and girls are referred to as Latino or niño
