Leaving the Centralized Control Grid - entry #2

There is no lie in nature

As I've mentioned before I moved out here to Pend Oreille County, Washington in the end of october. It only took a couple of weeks for winter to settle in even though it was early for this area. We got dumped with snow early and often which was just a reminder to myself that I started this journey completely unprepared.

I mean I like the snow but really?!?

Growing up in Montana I was used to the snow and I actually found some peace in shoveling pathways around the property for myself and my friends who own property. It didn't take long for that to wear thin especially with my unpreparedness. The first two weeks I didn't even have a place to stay except for the couches of friends. Then I procured my trailer and soon after that a truck. By then winter was full on and I had to come up with a plan. How much time do I invest in building things to make myself comfortable here knowing I'll be leaving at the very latest this summer?

To stay or not to stay?

As it turns out I decided to build a room off the back of the camper at the very least to put a wood burning stove in and vent the heat from that into the camper and under it to keep my water from freezing. I worked on that last night as the snow fell. When I'm working like this things like snow falling on me don't bother me. I just have to keep my tools dry as well as I can. I got quite a bit accomplished before turning off the generator and my lights and then retiring to bed. when I woke up in the morning I was glad I stayed up as late as I did to get finished with all the stuff along the ground which was now covered in a fresh 8 inch layer of snow and it continued o slow all day.

If you build it is it worth it?

I went into town to meet a friend for breakfast and get four 2x6's which are the only pieces of lumber I'll have to buy for the structure I'm adding on to the back of my camper. I'm pretty happy about that and will give more details as that project finishes up but here is a picture of the posts up and leveled and a few other things so I can start building up from here.

Shoveling brings peace?

When I got back I spent the day shoveling both myself and my friends out. I turned on some enjoyable music and again found a little bit of peace and shoveling the snow.

I hope you all had an enjoyable day and always remember to live free.
